Changing email address in eBay

I currently use a non free web mail for my eBay so I didn't have to put a credit card in when I registered and still don't have one in there.

If I change my email addy to hotmail, will I have to put a credit card in or will it not ask me as I am already registered?

Hotmail will ask you for a credit card I believe... never mind ebay.

Hotmail are free web based address so no proof of id or anything is needed to open one. I have several, most with some very odd 'personal' details that I use on web sites that I don't trust. When they get too much spam, I close them and open a new one.

However, I think, but don't know for sure, that if you try to change to a web based address on ebay that they will ask for a credit card. What you could try doing is to add a Hotmail account as a second email addy, then slowly change everything over to make that your primary one, that *might* work.

Ah, I read somewhere that some online email providers were demanding credit card details, to deter bots and other mass generation of accounts. My bad.

I believe they threatened it a while back to deter those people like me that use them as throw away accounts, they also launched a pay for Hotmail account, but I think people were prepared to vote with their feet and the suggestion sort of disappeared.
