You can't do a claim against the Royal mail as it shows as delivered, so there is nothing that can be achieved by going back down that route,

But what if the postie has pinched it? I would have been better sending it normal post and Royal Mail would have been unable to prove it was delivered and then have to refund me.

As for the initial question about payment, if you have a paypal account you can add a credit card and just choose to pay by that each time you make a payment.

    I have done now.

Personally I wouldn't have bought an MP3 player in the UK, I'd have gone to one of the Hong Kong sellers. Riskier maybe? Well I've not had a problem yet, they're just interested in getting the stuff in and out so are quite organised.

I was in a hurry so didn't want to wait for delivery.

Your seller's postage charges are a bit of a rip-off.... £9.99 for 1st class standard, £10.99 for recorded.

Yes, but I always look at the total price. If I get no satisfaction, would it be worth pointing out to eBay their postage prices to get back at them?

    .

Then you would need to make a report to the police for theft and chase it through the criminal services. RM are not going to pay out otherwise when they show an item as being received and signed for. Also, if a postie was going to steal something it would seem rather daft to show it as being delivered and provide a signature, surely it would be better to have it lost in the system so that a claim can be made for loss against the RM?

You can pay £2.50 (I think) for a copy of the signature, but I can't see how they would help in this instance.

The seller looks quite good lots of sales and not many negs, and the ones I looked at seemed to be rants.

Have you tried giving them a ring.

Should the online checker not display the signature? It only shows an EPOD delivered stamp.

If I could get a signature then at least that would give me some more proof to send the vendor.

Recorded does not show a signature automatically it has to be requested and paid for.

I don't know that that would make any difference. I have e-mailed several times and just get the same response that they haven't received it.

Well I sent off the stuff to Royal Mail for 'item lost in post' a couple of weeks ago.

I haven't heard anything from RM, but yesterday in my eBay messages there was a message from the seller saying that the red one had been dispatched. Strangely, all communications from the seller previously had been sent to my email account, even though I always communicated through eBay.

Now, in the last email I sent to the seller I requested a refund if they found the missing item, but they obviously ignored that, like they ignored the original request for the colour required.

So what do I do now if it does arrive?

Do I risk returning it and them claiming they haven't received it again? If I do they probably would only refund the cost of the player, because they are one of those companies that charge high postage (£10).

Do I try selling it on myself and risk losing more money?

Or keep it and put it down to another bad ebay experience (I wouldn't mind having it for myself, but it's now a colour I wouldn't have chosen for myself!).

What feedback should I leave them - negative or neutral?

  • Although I have no advise for you Charlie, I just wanted to say that I sympathise with you as I am going through the same situation as you.

I recieved the wrong colour ipod speakers, seller eventually agreed to a refund so I sent it back second class (not recorded as I wanted to keep the cost down as he was meant to refund the postage) He says he hasn't recieved them back. I paid with paypal but because I didn't use recorded delivery, I only have a proof I postage I don't know where I stand.

I wish you luck in getting your money back, I am kicking myself now for not using recorded delivery, but as you are experiancing, its not always garranteed either.
