A Company called BCS Multimedia that we have never placed an order with for an advert sent us an invoice of £341.25 in December, which I refused to pay as we had not asked for any advert, they called continuously and we alway said we were not interested but often they spoke to different people and started with the words "we are just calling to confirm the advert placed" I threatened to speak to trading standards, and they went very quiet until they called in January threatening legal action for non payment of £1,419.65 and I said that we had not placed, have never seen proof that it has even been published anywhere, and refused to pay. TODAY we have received a claim Form from Liverpool County Court for £1574.65 we have 28 days to dispute the claim but really need some help here as don't know how to handle this and can't afford to get a judgment against us. HELP Please!!

Have you asked when the order for the advert was placed and checked with those working. It might be that someone has agreed to something by accident and doesn't want to own up. This happened when I worked for a large pub company and someone in another pub ordered a load of till rolls when someone phoned up.

I have also been sent a court summons, I have emailed BCS multimedia , they sent me a recording which they claim has me agreeing to place an ad.It is totally out of context.
They actually called twice on the same day and initially stated that I would be receiving a call to confirm details so that proofs of an advert could be sent.
I have never received a copy of the ad until the email was replied to yesterday, it is not very relevant to my business needs. point is I did not get this and never given any indication as to where this was published.

I have never been given terms of any contract. the bill seems to have grown from £295 to over £700 with no explanation of how other than the suggestion that I was initially getting a discount for prompt payment.
I wrote to BCS on two separate occasions questioning the validity of the claim having spoken to trading standards the OFT and TAPA . But BCS did not reply to any of those and claim they did not receive any letters.

Strange I didnt receive any terms of business or contract from them and they claim not to have any letters from me.

I have spoken to a chap at TAPA he states that he has recorded over 300 complaints BCS, [TEXT DELETED BY FORUM TEAM]
I will be going to court to contest this claim. [TEXT DELETED BY FORUM TEAM]

I was really worried when I read these comments because I paid the money already, but I have had no problems other than someone else trying to get me to advertise again. The call wasnt from BCS again as they didnt have any other info than what was in my ad. People like that annoy me!!! [TEXT DELETED BY FORUM TEAM]

[TEXT DELETED BY FORUM TEAM]. Just put the phone down, do not engage in any conversation with these people.
  • This other man who phoned had a Manchester lilt. He sounded like he should have been in Oasis! Spoke to BCS and they said if anyone calls claiming to be from them ask for the password. Believe it or not that worked. Next time he called he put the phone down when I asked him for it. :T

[TEXT DELETED BY FORUM TEAM] my partner agreed over the phone but just wanted a quote he was busy at the time so was not really listening. I took a call from this person [TEXT DELETED BY FORUM TEAM] and said we are not interested and he said he did not want to deal with me, i said i was the one who dealt with the accounts and he said i should put my partner back on, I asked his name and for his tel no he then [TEXT DELETED BY FORUM TEAM] would not listen to me i kept asking for his number but he kept rattling off agreement jargon blah blah blah he said stop interupting me he then said he was from the Crime Prevention Office, i said i want more information about this compnay he continued to be rude and then threatened a debt collection agency will be contacting us in 48 hours i disputed this he was rude again so i hung up. Shaking through shock of being spoken to like that by somebody apparantly acting on behalf of a charity to raise money i reported them to the Police, Trading Standards and Consumer Direct. This morning an invoice has come through with a proof of advert which is wrong. I am now in the process of talking to trading standards and consumer direct again as i now have the invoice with their detail which i will also be passing to the police fraud squad.
  • After telephone abuse heard nothing for a week until the advert bill came through again with an A5 brochure (cheap quality, obviously done on home computer) with advert for us in there but with the grammatical error. Any quality company would not send an advert with grammatical errors out in the first place. The Police in Liverpool have been notified, Trading Standards and Consumer Direct are all aware now of these dirtbags. This so called company apparantly work to help the Police, NHS and Fire Staff, but none of these organisations seem to have heard of these people. They need to be stopped now.
