Thanks for your reply i dont really know how it all works, so should i just put 93 days before the date i send the form?

as far as im aware the form shouldnt ask you for a start date, aslong as you have all the childrens details then they will realise you have been eligible for a joint claim for child tax credits for more than 93 days prior to submitting the form so will automatically backdate it.

The best thing for you to do is phone them, I know its scary but they will best advise you as to when it can be backdated to etc. They are only people at the end of the phone. Yes, they may sound judgemental when you speak to them, but equally they are human, they will see you are in difficulties and try and help.

If you are totally honest now it is better for everyone, at least you have admitted it rather than being found out.

At the end of the day they are being paid to do a job, not make judgements on anyone. They are there to ensure you get what you are rightfully entitled to, not to deprive you because you did or didn't do something wrong

As for Child Benefit, it stays as it is, not dependant on earnins or partners etc.

Hi, ive still not heard back from taxcredit getting really worried now. I got a phone call today after i made a claim for jsa asking if i'm still employed as i was getting working taxcredit so i explained to her whats happend and she just said ok you taxcredit will deal with that and just wanted to know if i was still working so she could process jsa claim. I dont understand what taxcredit will do as ive heard nothing from them. Will i just get a masive bill or be arested and questioned. I'm so worried what wil happen next

don't be daft you won't get questioned/arrested they'll just send you a new tax credit award which will tell you how much you should still be getting (ctc) and how much you'll need to repay which they should take out of your new ctc award. they deal with so many claims they're only going to question/arrest someone who doesn't 'own up' and gets caught taking the pee. It will all even out in the end, after all if you weren't claiming the wtc you'd have been claiming jsa instead so don't worry so much. It would be different if you'd been claiming for anything and everything and got caught by them. All thats happened is your claim has been incorrect, they'll just correct/amend it for you.
My claim was incorrect for a year as they didn't log a phone call i made tellling them of a pay rise, they just correct the mistake later.

Thanks for replying i got an award notice through a provisional award with no childcare ect and my payments just childtaxcredit but i thought i need to make a new claim with my partner? I dont under stand whats going on now. I sent them a letter about a week ago stating my claim needed to be stopped as partner moved in and i havent been working or using childcare. I made a claim for jsa and a lady phoned me and asked me why i was still claiming as working so i explained and she said i need to contact taxcredit which i had already sent them a letter. Does anyone know whats going on???

    Hi,
As others have said the only way you can really get this sorted and give yourself some sort of peace of mind is to call them. You will at least know what is going on when you have spoken to them.
They deal with all sorts of things every day so have probably heard it all before, at least you are coming to them and not the other way round.
