Post Office Credit Card - Nightmare Application

in Credit cards
Hi all,
just now, I am Level 20 pi*** off!
Just have been on the phone to the Post Office Credit Card department and STILL they are not happy!
What happened: On April 29th I have applied for a PO CC because we go on Holiday and the POCC is commision free. So I thought I would go for that card. As I already have 2 Credit Cards (no balance cos I pay them off straight away), I thought this would be fairly straight forward and went Online and applied for the CC.
Unfortunatly the Online Form has taken out the "-" which is vital in my address because I stay in a flat. Obviously they wanted proof of identity and Address and I had to provide several proof. I had to get them certified in the branch and had to send them away with a Free Envelope. SO thats what I have done.
roughly a week later, I called up and they told me that the documents havent been certified correctly... Keeping in mind, it was the Post Office staff!
Ok, went in again, obviously the guy was off but a fairly nice lady got all the stuff together and left it for the guy and she promised me, they would sent it out on Saturday via Special Delivery.
Called in today and now they complain about my name! My Passport Name says Joerg Markus, though all my cards, bills etc say Markus and the lady on the phone told me, that I need to provide more details, because as per regulation they are not allowed to go further because of the name...
The lady in the branch on Thursday checked all my details and she said she is the there for Financial Problems/Application etc?! She said everything is fine and the application should go through...
Apart from the missing letter, wrong inofrmations etc thats yet another problem I have with the royal mail...
Does anyone have a complaint Hotline or is the lady right when she said I need to write a complaint??
Markus
I am fuming, really pi*** off!

I had all sorts of problems with the post office cc.
Their application process is a joke- a member of the post office signed the documents off incorrectly delaying the process.
Their website and call centre is one of the worst too.0 -

While you just mentioned that, this happened to me as well during the process! The lady on the phone last week was able to log a complaint straight away!
Now to add to my story: I called in again to calrify things and a guy said, best would be to apply again.
I did, passed the application on the phone with Limit of £3k... Documents wil be on the way out, she lady said, who I applied the CC with...
Royal Mail is unbelievable!0 -
Rarely hear of people having problems with PO applications - think you two are the odd ones out
Santander ... now there's a real bunch of muppets.
Post Office credit card is actually provided by Bank of Ireland, so counter staff can only do so much - they should maybe have made that a little bit clearer.
If you've made 2 applications then you'll have 2 searches on your credit report - if you've no plans for applying for anything else in the next few months then won't make any real difference, but you should be aware."A child of five could understand this. Fetch me a child of five." - Groucho Marx0 -

Thanks!
They put a note on my application though and they said, once the new app is through, they will delete this first application.0 -
Are you aware that they will undertake another credit search application on your credit files? It CAN have an impact on your chances of getting the PO credit card...so i suggest you contact their customer relations and request the previous credit card application search to be removed...just to ensure everything goes smoothly.
Otherwise it is perfectly possible they will decline your credit application second time due to previous credit card application.0 -
The Post Office is state run, public sector. What did you expect?0

Afraid I am one more person who's had some issues with the application process.
At first was told an immediate decision couldn't be made and they'd be in touch.
Then a decline letter 5 days later. I appealed as I have very good credit history.
Then a letter to say needed more information - certified copy of my passport / payslip / bank statements / other proof of identity (letter referenced anti-money laundering).
Spent half a day going to 4 different post offices trying to find one that could certify the copy ( turns out 3 of them should have been able to do it -but only 1 agreed they could - got charged £7 for the privilege)
Next letter from PO saying the certified copy was not properly certified and to try again - so had to visit branch again, was also told I shouldn't have paid the £7 as it was supporting a PO CC application, but didn't know how it could be refunded.
Time will tell what happens next and whether I'll get the card or not. I did ask them was it worth getting all the documentation back to them ie: do I have a chance if the info I send checks out - or whether they're just going through the motions of handling an appeal - but they were unable to comment.0 -
Wish I had read this first before I even bothered applying in the first place, have another post about "non-instant" decision.
At the same time though am glad am reading this now, it confirms what I've already said - no matter what they send me to verify myself am going to tell them to get lost, can't be bothered with such hassles as above.0
