Hi peter..I bought one of those cubes and it worked very well then suddenly stopped. When I took the door panel off I found that the two wires that you connect to the temic unit on the motor ahad come off.Iput them back on and it worked for a little while then packed in again. I found out that the terminals that connect to the temic unit were not very good, once they have been on and off a couple of times they tend to spread and become very loose.I put some new terminals on and it was not very succesful so bought a new temic unit off a guy on e bay furbishes them and so far so good.

Surely the fact that they are willing to pay 76% of the repair costs on a 10 year old car (seven years after its warranty has expired) will mean this will go in their favour?

Old story I know, but thought I would update, Renault could not be bothered to fight me, the small claims therefore found in my favour and Renault's solicitors sent me a cheque to refund all costs.

PS, my car was 6 years old not 10 at the time of writing.

Just had my window go on the drivers side of my 09 Scenic - during a break in the hot weather, as we had torrential rain last night, typical ;-). Anyway, rang Renault, they said we have to pay £50 upfront first as diagnostic fee, then they need to check if the model is the one that's affected, then they'll fix it at a cost of £120-£150! Have regulators really gone up that much in price since this thread started? Someone on here only paid about £70!

You can probably buy a complete thing from places like europarts for less than £150.
I think the Megane one with motor etc is just over £100.

Mine was £70 to repair but it only lasted a year before it stopped working. I now have two windows on the drivers side not working. Fortunately, (depending on how you look at it) some drunken idiot took his mates car and drove it into our other Renault in the middle of the night so we no longer have that one and its dodgy windows to bother about, just mine! I've had to have the dash replaced as well which I mentioned before and now the blowers motor unit thingy is going (same happened on the now written off one!). Bad years for Renault I've heard were 03-06, then they moved the manufacturing location to another country.

Relating to 2007 Renault Megane Dynamique 3 door
Around 2 months ago both windows in the car and the blowers packed up. At the time I paid around £278 + vat for a new regulator on the drivers window and another £70 for them to fix the blowers. Apparently water was getting in. (didn't bother with passenger at the time).

Last weekend following a thorough car wash (related??) the blowers and drivers window have gone again. Can't afford to keep going through this. I've had the door panel off today following some DIY videos, but everything looked nice and dry.

    Can anyone assist please?

If you got it done at a Renault dealer, the parts are guaranteed for a year so I would take it back there. Not sure how long other companies guarantee their repairs for but would have thought 3 months the minimum? Not sure if you have other legal rights but things do have to be fit for purpose and last a decent length of time in general.

It was a local garage that fitted the parts. I was hoping that I had some right to call upon them for their repair not lasting any great length of time.
  • Some times its not the blower that causes the issue its the resistor, its located passenger side behind the center of the dash, when 1 and 4 blower speed wasn't working I sought the resistor out and gave the connectors a hard push and wiggle and they worked fine since.

window regs worked fine on my megane 2 before I got shot of it.
