Renault (Megane) Window Regulator Faults Repair Scheme
Hi, this is for information really as I couldn't find much other info on it on this site.
Basically our 2nd window stopped working due to the window regulator on our 2004 Renualt Scenic Megane so having googled and found that this is a common fault rang Renault & their current scheme is to help out 75% of the cost for cars less than 7 years old & less than 100,000 miles. This works out including labour & discount at around £50 - £80 for the repair of 1 window depending on your make & model.
I said I wish I'd know about it with the first window which I paid about £200 to have fixed last year but we'd taken it to Renault & they quoted £300 so either the scheme has changed or that person didn't know about it. Bizarrely customer services said that if we have a problem with their product then we should call them (rather than go to their official garage?) .... just I found this a bit odd as we had taken the car & been quoted a price. At that point you don't really call Customer Service, you either take the price or find somewhere cheaper don't you?
Anyway - current scheme:
Window Regulator Failure on Renaults (especially megane models)
Cars under 7 years old & 100,000 miles.
Renault cover 75% of the repair at a Renault garage.

the likely explanation is that Renault don't actually give the dealer the 75% and they lose out.0
-
Or the stealers just cash in with exhorbitant rates.0

I don't get what you mean? they're both Renault, are they treated as seperate companies (the dealer / garage & the head office customer services)?
(for us it works out as £70 (with 75% off) instead of £210 at an independent garage)0 -
My brother has just changed his 3rd one, bought the parts and dit it himself.0

I think what weirdlittleman means is that the £300 fix was the retail rate quoted by the Renault Dealer. Renault UK are offering a 75% contribution which means that the net cost to you is £70. However... the Renault dealer will probably only receive the going warranty rate for the job from Renault UK so they will receive far less than the £230. Essentially Renault UK are a bulk buy customer for the Renault Dealer and will probably receive 50-80% off the going rate. The man without a signature.0 -
Ah I see what you mean, thanks vikingaero.
3rd molerat  was wondering if the other two going at some point is inevitable  well done for doing it yourself, some things we will happily do ourselves but after he took all the door panelling off etc. he decided against it0 -
hi folks i currently own a black megane dynamique 5door on a 04 plate and the window motors are driving me crazy
just lately the drivers window motor packid in on me whilst having a fag when driving then when my freind had one the passenger side window got a mind of it's own not cool when it's raining cats and dogs
i have a few mechanic freinds and they have put me onto a place in walsall called just renaults they are a breakers yard specialising in renault cars and are always having these things in for breaking and they sell the motors seperately from the main dealers :T
which means you can get a used motor for £75 plus the vat with a 3month warranty and they also do a fitting service for just £60 proper bargain they just need your car for an hour or so and presto no more getting wet when it rains i really reccomend these guys they know their stuff their number is 01922 632261 try them they tell you straight what the problem is unlike the main dealers (main stealers more like)0 -
Does anybody know of a good place to get a regulator then have it fitted anywhere near Chesterfield? Mine's with Renault now being looked at and is outside it's 7 year window. Mine's the drivers side on a 54 plate 225. Not happy at the expected £300+ bill0

There is a video showing how to change the regulator module yourself.
