MSN only saves a history if you ask it to. Have a look in the settings, you can have all conversation history saved into a folder and then I guess log in tonight and see if he speaks to you as 'her' ?

Definitely contact the police, not just for her safety, but also for the safety of other girls. It is very easy to lie about being 300 miles away, and that isn't really any distance anyway.

In my local paper this week was a report about a 38 year old man. He had contacted an 11 year old girl on the internet and said that he was 17. She became upset at one of his comments and told her parents.

It's not worth the risk of keeping quiet.

Definitely call the police. Also the digital forensics departments in the Police have the facility to carry out analysis of any computer, PSP, mobile phone etc even if messages have been deleted from MSN for example.

How do you know he lives far away? Is it just because he said that?

Before you call the police, have you checked how old he thinks your daughter is?

If he thinks she's 16/18+ and has asked for pics, it's pervy but not illegal. If she definately made it clear that she was underage, then the police is the right action. If not, you need to let her know how the situation could get someone in a lot of trouble.

If you've got MSN, google something called messenger plus. You can download this and it works through MSN, allowing a full log to be made of ANY conversation. May turn out handy (IT IS a safe download, I've used this myself regularly)

As well as the police, please also get in touch with CEOP

    http://www.ceop.gov.uk/

They run the ThinkUKnow site and are fantastic to deal with. Just because your daughter has told you and is now avoiding contact with this person, please still report him. He could well be doing the same to a whole host of young girls who haven't told their parents.

i would call the local police - this needs reporting and they will be able to advise you how to proceed.

No question, report it to the police and DO NOT attempt any further contact yourself with the "person", you could damage any possible case.
