i think my daughter is in contact with an internet peodaphile...help

hi,
last night i found out my daughter who is 13 has been in contact with an 18 yr old male. we live very far away from this person and it is impossible for them to ever meet (cant go into more detail without saying where i live)
i looked through her mobile and this person has her mobile number, i found texts asking her to send him pics of her in her underwear. thankfully she did not. he got her to phone him then tried to phone our house at 3am in the morning.-this is how we found out, we heard her sneaking around then the number to the one on the texts matched.
im wondering if i should go to the police. although he can't get to my daughter i'm worried if i don't then he coukd target a girl he can get to...what would u do?

    Hi

Do you have any idea where he says he lives?

I am just asking because a 3am phone call suggests he may be living in a different timezone.

And yes, get hold of the police. I assume that you have hold of her phone and that access to the computer is currently barred.

  • yes i have her phone and she is barred. he lives a good 300 miles away and woulld be very difficult to get here.and she told me where he said he lives. i thought maybe she had lied about her age so i had a look at her social network page and it does say she is 13.
  • would the police be able to trace him with the mobile number? i sent him a text asking who he was from my phone, but got no reply. i didn't make it clear who i was.

i also believe that you can get number blocked from your daughters mobile if you phone the provider
    Drop a brand challenge
on a £100 shop you might on average get 70 items save
    10p per product = £7 a week ~ £28 a month
    20p per product = £14 a week ~ £56 a month
30p per product = £21 a week ~ £84 a month (or in other words one weeks shoping at the new price)

The police can trace people through their IP account in some cases but they need a curt order to do so I believe. Has he invited her to meet hime or has she given her address details? You definitely need to report this. He could be any age.

    Hi

if her social networking page indicates that she is 13 years old and he has asked for pictures of her in her undies, he would be of interest to the police.

  • i dont think she has, she told a bit of a lie at first. she said it was a guy she met up here.-she said this as she thought she would get in more trouble if i knew it was on the internet. i made her watch a programme on facebook with me so she knew the dangers. i can't believe its happened after how much i spoke to her. i'm kinda worried its my fault for not being vigilant enough :-(
she only told me it was the internet when i said i might go to the police and she had to tell the truth as they would find out anyway.
going by her texts i'm pretty sure this started on sat night but cant be sure.

Go onto the Pc/laptop and look through your daughters history.

Print anything off that looks untoward and take the print outs and the phone with the texts on to the Police.

I would contact the police at least that way they have been informed especially if he isnt who he says he is! the police would rather 10 calls from a worried mother than a mother that left it and then something happens!
