Abbey don't transfer my ISA

I posted the transfer form to on 18 April 2010, Transfer didn't happen even after 3 weeks. So called their Customer care and I was told they haven't recieved it and advised to submit it to local branch. Submitted to local branch on 10th May and still not transferred. Called customer care again and they say it is still not received. Any idea where to complain other than Abbey ?

Thanks
Maveli

  • I had a similar situation, but a different answer. I asked what was going on and they said they were so busy I should leave it another month as loads of forms submitted. I don't suppose they may find your form in the pile?

According to their website it should be transferred in 5 working days

Personally I wouldn't believe 5 days would be possible for any bank, especially not Santander!! Don't know where else you can complain at this point - AFAIK the guidelines say transfers should take a maximum of 30 days and even this isn't binding in any way. Since it is perfectly conceivable that Santander didn't get the first transfer request, and it has only been 14 days since you visited the branch, I would persist with Santander themselves. Perhaps visit the branch rather than calling customer care, and if they don't have any info about the status of the transfer ask to make a formal complaint. It is ridiculous how long ISA transfers take!! Best of luck :)
  • I saw that too and asked them, but they just said they were busy and to stick with them. I know it does not help, but I am just going to wait a little longer.

I have now been 7 weeks, Bradford and Bingley(Santander) said they didnt receive the transfer form till 11th May (application completed with new provider Nationwide 7th April). They said Nationwide sent the forms to the wrong address for all the ISA transfers, not just mine! Nationwide said they gave them the wrong address (keep with me on this one) After trying to ring the customer care was cut off twice then put through to wrong dept. Member of staff asked me if it was a joint ISA!!!!!!!!!!!!!Beggars belief doesnt it, they really dont know what they are doing. When eventually I got through to someone they said they had received my form but give it another two weeks before contacting them again! And I have just given up with Nationwide, think I will wait till its eventually sorted and if I dont get my backdated interest plus the rate I signed up for, then official letters will be written and the financial ombudsman notified. Cant believe how many people are complaining about these transfers, nothing is being done by the hierarchy either.
  • Similar experience here, posted transfer form in mid April, not heard anything no letter, email etc. Havent tried phoning yet, given what Im reading on here not sure whether its worth it

Wouldnt it be nice if things just got done rather than having to chase them up, my transfer is from an existing Santander ISA to the latest Direct ISA so I would have thought that would be quicker than transferring from one bank to another

I think the financial ombudsman is going to be one busy bunny in the near future!

I am just about to transfer my ISA from Abbey as my yearly bonus is up and the account will only be paying 1% after June 9th. Sounds like so much hassle. I will make sure I send my transfer request form recorded delivery so they can't turn round and say they haven't received it.

Yes I would do that, but there is no guarantee that Abbey will action your transfer form straightaway. Sorry to be so negative and you may be one of the lucky ones, but as you can see from this board it certainly is not a speedy straighforward process. Good luck anyway spike87

Put my tranfer in (through the Manchester BS) on the 7th of May, and received a letter from Santander today (dated the 18th), saying they had posted the cheque and tranfer details to the Manchester B S.
