    Hi Mel,

This is the best chocolate cake I have ever tasted! It is so delicious and really really really moist!

I have just popped this into the oven - I have a giant chocolate cupcake order for Friday and thought I would try out this recipe and if yummy then I will use this instead of my normal chocolate maderia Sponge.

Zippy - The cakes are even more delish the day after - I'll DEFINATELY be using that recipe again - yum yum!!

Has anyone tried any of the hummingbird cake recipes? I made the banana and Chocolate Cupcakes last night but must have put too much cinnamon in because I am not impressed :(

    Hi

I was going to suggest using Modelling Chocolate but having just looked at the recipe for it online it calls for Corn Syrup - I cant find that on the Tesco website - does anyone else know what else it would be callled?

light corn syrup - use golden syrup
dark corn syrup - use treacle

not exactly the same, but close enough as a substitute in a recipe

Thank You, Thank You, Thank You - I need to make a Hannah Montana guitar as a topper and I've been watching too much cake boss and have some crazy notion of making it out of rice krispie cakes covered in Modelling Chocolate

    Hi, I'm new!
I was wondering if anyone could help me, I have a friends birthday coming up and she wants a chocolate cake, does fondant icing go ok with chocolate cake? because I wanted to decorate the top, or would it taste better if I just use chocolate icing?
    Thankyou!

Becs, I got my cup measures from Poundland, they are so easy I now prefer to bake and cook using american measures as its easier than weighing out!

I made another cake for my friends birthday yesterday, the middle is chocolate cola cake, coincidentally the same one thats just been linked to (except I used two sandwich tins instead of one big cake tin), and the topping and filling is white chocolate buttercream. It was ridiculously tasty, I wasnt properly prepared for decoration though so threw a couple of thin chocolate bars on top in a vaguely arty fashion, some dark chocolate shavings and some pink flowers :rotfl: he loved it though so its all good!

I have to make one of these at the weekend... and maybe follow it up with a very long walk to burn off the calories! :rotfl:

  • Hiya Guys,
I had a go at the ice-cream cup cakes tonight.
There not great but it was my first time ever using the piper for the icing, and they tasted yummy!

This is the Postman Pat cake i made for my adorable nephews 2nd birthday. It is my first attempt at anything like this so thanks you for your help. Everyone loved it and it saved her £55 buying one.
