    Hi Ladies
This may seem a stupid question but do you think if a sponge cake was baked and iced with ready to roll icing how long will it stay fresh for if not cut into? I am going away on Fri and coming home Mon it is my daughters birthday Tuesday so will have to rush to do the cake the day before, If I made it Thurs would it still be ok on Monday?
    Thanks:T

do a madeira cake - its heavier than sponge and keeps a lot longer (5-7 daysish) also you can do what some of the bakers do and make a sugar syrup (just sugar and water and boil together) and then paint the cake with it when cooled- just a tiny amount though dont soak it then decorate an normal

But I am altering it. I have some white and mint geen flowers and some large silver balls to go along the side so they look like studs. I am going to make 14 from white sugarpaste and cover them in glitter Dont know if to make them small and stick them on the front or large and put something on the back and stand them in the pieces I cut off to make the cake. The handle I am making from munchies yummy. Hopefrully it will be ok! Maybe up all night baking and in Asda the next morning buying a cake:rotfl:

Ooh good luck! It looks tricky.

Im thinking my next cupcake mission is doing 'Geeky Cupcakes'

If you google it, it comes up with loads of really cool ones :D

Thanks Skint I usually do maderia but bake it in two tins with jam and buttercream sort of like a victiria have to do it in two tins as if I do it in one I dont think I could cut it straight when cutting it in two. Dont know if it cause I do it in two tins but mine light and fluffy not dense do you think it will still bo ok. Does the syrup preserve it?
    TIA

evening baking buds! loving the cupcakes,
awesome - the syrup just keeps it moist for longer and stops it drying out, i bought myself a cake separator - it cuts straight through the middle and also for making the top even ( i can never get it straight with a knife) even although i always turn my cake upside down before decorating, think its one of the best things i've bought, that and a cake smoother.

evens - sorry to hear about your course
