Well Dan has been a great help, but unfortunately he can find no details of this person on the electoral roll either so its looking more and more like a scam.rokerroar wrote:I'm not much use here but if Dan can't find the address I do have access to 192.com at work and would be happy to look it up for you.
I would like to say how I feel about this 'person' but afraid I'd get banned from the message board if I did  0 0

And at what point did I say I was easily willing to give up on the money???Jamz wrote:How far away was this person? have you requested thier details from Ebay? I can't belive your so easily willing to give up on the money....
You've got a name and address go visit and have a chat with them
(and yes he lives a long way away, if it even is his own/genuine address)0

JD I'm guessing he used a false name but a genuine address, as that's where you sent the 'phone?
I've asked another MSE member to see if they can find details of who lives at the address you sent it to.
Maybe if you posted the city, someone who lives locally would be prepared to check out the address?.0

Hmmm, been thinking about that. Suppose another possibility could be that his name is genuine but he doesn't live there and its a friends/accomplices address.Dan29 wrote:JD I'm guessing he used a false name but a genuine address, as that's where you sent the 'phone?
Wow thats great, thanks.Dan29 wrote:I've asked another MSE member to see if they can find details of who lives at the address you sent it to.

I had a very similar thing happen to me. About 2 weeks after a transaction Paypal took £43.97 out of my credit card account. I tried contacting the customer with no response, this customer had already bought once off me and this was her second order where the money was reversed.
This is one of a number of messages I sent to paypal...
 Form Message
customer subject: I am very unhappy about this reversal
customer message: Transaction ID (optional): '7DM36588SM3040915'
 Transaction Date: '8 Apr. 2006'
 Transaction Type: 'eBay Payment Received'
 Transaction Status: 'Reversed'
 Transaction Amount: '£43.97 GBP'
 Additional Information: 'Dear Paypal,
I have got my couriers to fax over the signatures on the delivery notes
for the two deliveries to this address. I have evidence that this
customer has had two deliveries off me for two seperate orders. You
obviously did not follow up on the information that I gave you.
You deducted money from my account and gave me a week to reply, yet it
 was
two weeks since the delivery was efficently made to the customer. I
think it is highly unfair that you can take money off me, when this
customer paid and recieved her deliveries.
I think your handling of this situation has been poor and unjustified...
This was never resolved due to my couriers lack of 'online tracking' (it was only on paper- paypal small print). I do have to note the signatures were different on the couriers delivery notes, a bit of a suprise when I saw it- still the removal of funds from my account had no prior warning and lack of response from my customer (even the phone number didn't work) seemed highly suspicious.
I gave up on persuing this some months ago, it was eating up time and it seemed unlikely that I'd ever win against the paypal 'wait a week and we'll send you some stock reply avoidance email' but figured I'd post it as the fustration persuing it previously still annoys me.
 Good luck with your claim.0

If you have a chargeback from Paypal, where they are using 'unauthorised card' as the excuse I would do the following:
Report the matter to the police with the evidence that you have so far and obtain a crime number. You have posted goods to an address where someone has used a stolen credit card (or more likely lied to their bank that someone has used their card without authority). The police will probably try to tell you it is a civil matter. It's not, its a crime.
Send a recorded delivery letter (not emails) to Paypal asking for a full copy of the investigation that they have carried out so you can hand it on to the police, quoting the crime number. Advise them that until you receive this you will not pay the money they demand, and if you receive any further demands from them prior to the evidence being provided you will report them to the police for harassment.
Do not use your Paypal account or put any money into it.
You will not hear from Paypal again.0

I had similar experience, but fortunately, my buyer accused my phone's faulty and after filed chargedback, he did sent it back to me....anyway, as far as i know, paypal has the seller protection if you have a premium account or above, and if that doesn't work, i'd agree with going to police. Don't just let it go,as they'd do it again!0

Heres an update. Heard back from the other seller this person bought a phone off:
Not sure how he knew it was a fraudulent transaction cos everything seemed fine when the buyer bought my phone, but yet more pointing towards this being a fraudster.i remember someone bidding for my lg mobile and he paid via fraud ebay transaction. But When I Put my phone for the second time for bidding I was able to sell to another seller.
Plus I have an administrator on the eBay message boards looking into the case for me so fingers crossed I may be building up a strong case against this person.0
