shoplifting asda

When I was 14 I met a girl from school on the bus into town, we went shopping as teenagers do and she stole a wallet. Unknown to me, until on leaving the shop she said 'quick run' which I didn't (too lazy)... Shop worker grabbed me, 'friend' stopped and security caught her. Then they caged us up in a tiny room for over 3 hours waiting for the police.
CCTV prooved I had no idea what she was up to and the fact I didn't run prooved it too, yet I had to wait. The whole time the shop workers came in and belittled us and assumed we were theives. Police came, let me go, late at night and my friend was arrested. That was more than enough to put me off shoplifting for life! I was humiliated and hadn't even done anything!
Then I was accused of bullying the girl wen I refused to talk to her at school and explained why to my real friends- but that's a whole other story!
In our local tesco people are frog marched off weekly by police and I'm pleased they are- it shows a zero tolerance which keeps the cost of my shopping down.If you aim for the moon if you miss at least you will land among the stars!0 -

I had a friend who did something similar he was always in and out of jail.
One thing i dont think catching them keeps the prices low. They add extra on top of the price just because people shoplift. So even though it seemed they had caught 1 at tesco still means high prices.
That is why i stopped shopping at tesco and go to aldi instead much cheaper they got some nice stuff and hardly anyone shop lifts there there is one entrance there are cameras everywhere and the staff are nice too.
Cant say the same for tesco who kinda rip people off:A0 -
Did some research on this for uni. It costs the shops a fortune. seems that favourite items include bacon, salmon, razors and batteries. oh and coffee. stuff that folks cant live without presumably. thats why those items are at the end of the ailses where they can keep an eye on them.0

I have read where a guy picked up a TV (stores own branded make, boxed) that was stored on display for a special offer one week and just walked straight to the customer service desk at the store entrance and said could he have a refund!
He didn't have a receipt with him so if it wasn't for the fact that they had to call the manager in charge of the electrical department to see if he would authorize a refund he may have got away with it.
The manager knew that they had only just put the televisions out that morning and none had yet been sold, so he couldn't have purchased the TV.0 -

That is how most americans in walmart steal just grab a item take it to customer service and say can i have a refund and when they cant they just walk away like they own it.:A0 -

They used to do this at a store I used to work in- they'd work in "teams" (would be known to the security camrea people who would let us know) they'd take the tags off the clothes (we'd spot them doing it- it was one of those stores with many staff who irritatingly ask you 'how you are' all the time) they'd then ask for a refund.
There used to be a well known group of women and a man who'd visit all of our stores (so we knew them and every other store also did) they'd pay for an item by cheque then go to another of our stores and obtain a refund. Apparently this sort of scam would happen alot. The cheques would either be stolen or would bounce. This is one of the reasons they stopped the cheques in so many retail stores.0 -
I watch many people peel off sale stickers in the store I work in, and place them onto other items, and quite brazenly claim at the tills they found them like this and they will only be paying that price. Always a fun game to tell them that swapping stickers could be classed as trying to steal, they soon lose interest in the item.Dooyoo £10.40/40, TopCashBack £17.19/30, Valued Opinions 50p/£10, Swagbucks 0/£20, Ebay £15/£250

Meat and things like butter are easily concealable. We had a spate(when I worked in the shop) of thefts of cheese and butter, so much so we removed it and put up a sign about shoplifters and that if anyone wanted it, they had to ask at the counter for it!
How on earth is meat easily concealable? A chicken up the top - leg of lamb down the trousers!
I think the reason people steal meat is because it is high value and not always security tagged.0 -

Meat can be hidden in a bag either a stores own shopping bag or a handbag
or by box stuffing which is there someone goes and finds a boxed item stuff it full of all they can get in there and then take it to the check out pay for it and they get that stuff out there in the box.
Lets say you got a toaster box they stuff it full of meat and cheese take it to the normal checkout "not self service" and then they pay for the box full of stuff.
been doing more reading wiki had a lot of info on shoplifters dont know why but wiki knows all for some reason.:A0 -

Just confuses me: how can they get away with it? isn't it obvious what they are doing? I can't see how the action of sliding a major box of meat into clothing or even a bag cannot get seen by even another shopper, let alone the cameras.... I can't see how even the most brazen of thieves can get away with this- and also think its just a random thing to steal- I have been inside pubs before and if some bloke (or even women) came up to me offering me a slab of meat, unrefridgerated :eek:and possibly grey, I'd refuse point blank- and thats without even considering how the person may have obtained it.
Just odd, very odd! I think they are all secretly mystery shopper/shop lifters out to write a report on the security team or wannabe body builders who ran out of cash after forking out for several 100 Lbs of dumbells!:rotfl:0
