That's right folks... I have a problem with buying fruit and veg plants. I don't really have much space left yet today I bought:
8 strawberry
1 yellow pepper
1 scotch bonnet
1 white currant
1 blueberry
12 tomato

this in addition to the ones I already have:
2 tomatoes
12 onion
12 leek
8 cabbage
8 broad bean
8 runner beans
8 dward bean
10 brussel sprouts
2 black currant
7 courgettes
3 sweetcorn
4 sunflowers
10 potatoes

And my garden is rather on the small side... and I live alone so there is no way I will be able to eat all of this if they all bear fruit!

Please tell me that i am not alone in the compulsion?!?:o

Oh and I bought 1 scaredy cat plant and 1 pot od sweet peas...

Perhaps travel cannot prevent bigotry. But by demonstrating that all people cry, laugh, eat, worry and die, it introduces the idea that if we try to understand each other, we may even become friends.

My excuse (and I am sticking to it) was they were nearly all at least half price... I'm now off to dig up some of my grass so that I can plant them all!

  • Can I join your gang? I have just taken a break from repotting hundreds of plugs from the recent Suttons and T&M bedding offers ..... OH has yet to create me a flower bed to plant them in. With three sports mad kids main garden is grass, I have a rescued patch behind garage for veg plot and front garden is chippings for the cars! I can only fit so many pots on the patio.:p

Think we may need to start a support group -' My names Ginny and I keep planting tomato seeds and have run out of space to put them in!' or why did I plant a giant pumpkin then find out it takes 65 sq foot of land to grow????? I keep wandering round the garden pondering and then walk back in the house shaking my head  Also all the seeds are germinating in about 10 minutes in this weather so now I have 10 sunflower plants and maybe 35 tomato plants that will need potting on asap. Oh well looking forward to a huge glut of food.

At least we know we are not alone:)

My garden resembles the hanging gardens of Babylon. I've got pots and baskets fixed to every wall and fence surface, pots hanging from the branches of a lilac tree, and I also have 3 wrought-iron pot holders on tallish legs that I will plant up and stand in the middle of a bed so I get 2 layers of flowers from one piece of ground.

My back lawn is half the size it was when i moved in. Each year I "trim" the edge to get it straight and also make room for bedding plants at the front (the shrubs behind keep growing forward). It won't be long before the beds on opposite sides of the garden meet in the middle !

I grew a couple of rhubarb plants from seed, and bought 4 varieties of strawberries, only 1 variety survived "sophie".

I didnt know strawberries put out runners which grew, They are now fighting for space along with the blackberry and blackcurrant bushes.

Family apple & family pear tree's, a Triple bush with raspberries, gooseberries and something else ehich has never done well, I moved it last year & its bushing out all over now. All in a space thats smaller than the greenhouse on gardeners world.

Forgot, onions as well, And 9 sprout plants in a container bought from a carboot, Now gone very very pale though, Dont think they are happy.
