Very tempted to do this as hubby pays £42 subscription a month. What happens if they say yes, we will proceed with your cancellation? Has it ever happened to anybody? Hubby cannot do without hs sky sports. Thanks
They wouldn't say yes just say you can get a better deal elsewhere , they don't want to lose your custom

Asked hubby to phone and he would not, he said, he has subscribed for £50 extra to get football premiership etc, and they would know he would not cancel. May be next year, he would do it. I am very tempted to ring on his behalf but I am sure they would talk to me although I do know his password. Hubby is a bit shy to do these sorts of things unlike me who likes a bargain. Thanks

Last night i spoke to cancellations and they offered me Sky+ with free installation and a grade A refurb 20 hour box for free to stay with them. I am on Sky World so no extra monthly charge. Could i have got a better deal???

Is it binding for new 12 Month Contract?

What do you mean by 20 hour box.

Is there not any Sky+ monthly charge.

Do they offer Half Price once you have sky+

Sky won't let you cancel even though you know hubby's password. I tried to "cancel" once and was told that it is only account holder that can cancel, i too knew password and could do various other things with account but not cancel.
My hubby's not good at doing things like that either but if i nag him enough to do it he usually gives in, result 12 months 25% off. Also got him to do it with orange (broadband), and got offered broadband max for same price as we were paying for the noraml package (sorry can't remember the name of it.) Try same method on your hubby, I find it usually works - eventually!!!
Massive thanks to all who contribute on the MSE forums, especially on grabbit and competition boards

I would ring them up while your husband is in the room and when they ask to speak to him tell them that your husband authorises you to deal with the account on his behalf. You can then put him on the phone to confirm that is correct. They should then speak to you.
Alternatively get him to put you down as the main account holder.

It seems a shame to pay out more than you need unneccessarily. Good luck.

Well, i got the missus to phone up yesterday as it's in her name (via the free phone number posted on the cheap digital TV thread) and straight way, without any problem, was offered our package for half price for 5 months - saving us £18 a month. We'll have to see what we can do when it expires.

    Regards Ted

Phoned sky and said hubby is a bit deaf, she gave me another number he can ring. I, too used the free number and got CS and when asked to put through cancellations, she said hubby has got to do it himself. When I said sky is not that competive compared to others, she said there are no offers and I have to give 30 days notice to cancel? Is it cancellations department you have to talk to? I guess, I have done it the wrong way. It's very unlikely hubby will do it, I give up. I had to wait when he goes out to ring them. It's like his brother, I have been telling me to use 18185 and it's such a hassle to him to subscribe. Thanks

DEEPEE the lady at Sky read aloud a whole load of terms and one of them was that i am tied in for another year.

if you subscribe to at least one of the Premium channels you dont have to pay the £10 monthly fee for Sky+ (which i do) so my monthly payment will not increase.

As for the 20 hour box (ie it can record for 20 hours on its hard drive), it is a refurbished box with the same 1 year warranty that the New 40 hour boxes come with. She said not even Mr Murdoch gets one of those for free.

Finally, no they did not offer half price on top of this.

Has anyone got a better deal to stay with them?

Thanks for this, the stubborn g...., would not budge and will not let me do it. I guess, he is worried they cancel it for good and he is lost without skysports.
