Update Google Nexus One and Android 2.2 (Froyo) - Instructions

I haven't rooted my N1, and won't until the warenty has expired. I'm not concerned about breaking the phone by rooting or by installing a custom ROM, I just don't want any complications if part of my hardware independantly breaks. This thing wasn't cheap
.
I think I would have the same attitude if I had a Desire.
I'll root and install a custom ROM next year if there's something better out there that I can install. But for now, while the N1 is Google's golden child , I'm happy to get my Android updates before everyone else.
I think this is the single point that makes the N1 better than the Desire. Most things I've heard about Sense have been positive, but I like faster updates.0 -
You can get HTC sense on the N1. Like I said I am using the sense keyboard.
If there is an intermittent fault with a rooted N1 then restore it to how it was. If it stops working completely how can they know if it was rooted or not?0 -
To root you need to unlock the bootloader, which is irreversible, and this is what voids your warranty. You can unroot/restore the stock ROM, but this does not restore your warranty.
I suppose if it was totally dead they'd have no way of knowing the bootloader was unlocked, unless they fixed it.0 -

I'd disagree about it making the Nexus One better than the Desire, it makes it different certainly but not better. I think a lot of people who buy the Desire won't even be aware there's a new version of Android out until the phone tells them there's an upgrade.
It's only us saddos on the internet who spend hours talking and worrying about these things.
Personally I'm happy with my Desire the way it is, the update will be nice when it arrives but it's not a dealbreaker. It's my problem, it's my problem
If I feel the need to hide
And it's my problem if I have no friends
And feel I want to die0 -
Hi folks, my iphone contract expires in a couple of weeks. I was thinking of giving my iphone 3G to the wife and getting myself either an iphone 4 or a Nexus One. I'm leaning stringly towards the Nexus One. However I've not had chance to use one as yet. Could anyone tell me how responsive it is to touch? Is it at least as good as the iphone. As great as the Nexus One is, I never want to go back to a dodgy touch screen again. So I'd really like to know if the Nexus One does what you expect it to do first time when you touch it.
Thanks.SIMPLE SIMON - Met a pie man going to the fair. Said Simple Simon to the pie man, "What have you got there?" Said the pie man unto Simon, "Pies, you simpleton!"0
