  • Our daughter will be 3 then so she'll be able to enjoy the day as well. Not booked anything yet, most things we have to wait for anyway and we can't decide where we want the reception! Depends on how much we save to which one we pick- I'll let you know all the details as and when though!

    Good Morning ladies :D

Bit pushed for time this morning so only a quick update! LMRH, I can't wait to hear your plans :j

I did realise last night that we are up to page 4 and I haven't really said anything about money -oops :rotfl:. OK done free scratchie already, checked bank and moaned to VO about too many pre screening questions on surveys!

Today wont be an NSD as my daughter is going on holiday with her dad for half term so I am going to give her £10 spending money although this is out of the £40 my mum gave me last week, I haven't touched my salary yet apart from DD's and food/petrol. Normally me and my work mate share lunch on a friday as it's fish and chips (and only £2) so I offered to pay for today and he said no but I might pay anyway as he bought me lunch in town last week when we were on courses.

I think I am coming out in sympathy with Karen as I feel like I have pulled something in the very top of my arm and moving it is quite painful, I must have slept funny!

Going over to my mums tonight for dinner and it will be nice to see her, can't find out the name of OH's song so might have to throw in the towel and buy the game .

And I almost went looking through the spare room for something small and sparkly........almost ;)

Have a great day ladies and i look forward to catching up with you later :)

Very happily married on 10th April 2013 :D

This made me giggle as well:rotfl:. We, women, are really bad.

Money wise a bit of advice...

Scratchcard: when I was clearing my debts, I found them quite therapeutic, sad it is but here we go. Every morning, first thing, I logged in, did my daily scratch for me and OH and than started the day. I have to tell you, I managed to withdraw £10 every 6 weeks, not bad for 1 min of your life!

But the most I earned/earn was/is babysitting. Can recommend to anyone. Do it once or twice a week and you easily earn £30 per occassion. I cleared my debts but still do it twice a week, I have now regular families who pay at average £45 per occassion. It's tiring as you need to stay up late but I always take my laptop and study with me, so not bored at all. I use an agency, if anyone interested, I can p.m you the name of it, they provide me jobs constantly. The extra money goes towards what we need to buy (like a new laptop this week as old one blew up 3 days before my assignment was due), so it doesn't come out from our wages.

Also I can recommend tesco clubcards-I earnt 4 flights to visit my family withing 6 months-it appr. saved us £200. This only works if you will use your airmiles, we need to fly in order to see your parents so money well spent.

I miss the challenge nowadays (not the debt), it was great doing everything I could to pay back the loan, I still do it every now and than but I'm not as obsessed anymore...

Kavics you have done so well! Do you have to be checked for babysitting? I already have a CRB as I work in a hospital but thought there would be some quite stringent checks?

This will make you laugh girls.....the only reason I didn't go seraching was because at the moment I am still pretty deaf following the cold and I thought if OH comes back because he has forgotten something (which happens a lot) I wouldn't hear his key in the door and he would walk in to find me rifling through boxes of records for no reason :rotfl:Oh i am so shameless!!

Have been thinking about taking on a 2nd job, I had two or three jobs for about 6 years and did loads of bar work, I finally gave up my 2nd job in Dec 08 as my car finance was about to end and I would have managed fine. Then we had to move it in the March so in hindsight I would have carried on :(. Trouble is I don't really want to do bar work as I can be such a miserable cow if I have a bad day, thought about Tesco etc but by the time I get Basic Rate taxed it's going to be a small amount. That said, I am going to see how June goes with the spending diary and if it is obvious I can't manage to put money aside then I will get anothe job, if I can manage to put money away then I will hang fire for a bit, simples :p

I know that feeling. OH leaves an hour earlier in the mornings and sometimes I jump in the bath (don't ask:o). If he comes back, he always gets cross with me so I'm always listening out for him for like 15 min :D.

Yes, you do need a CRB check and you will need to go for an interview but that's only a formality. You need to provide 2 references (can be friends or work) and as you're a mother, you already have plenty of experience with children. Anyway, I never take bookings when kids are awake, I always go there after bedtime :).

Good idea to see in June to do the spending diary, and re-think about job-very sensible idea.

Thanks Kavics, will see how it goes before I make a decision as I don't want to over committ myself, get stressed, get despondent and lose my way.

Well today was good day/bad day. Will try and keep it short as not to bamboozle and bore you...

Work was same old really, got a bit hectic this afternoon and didn't leave till 6 which was a bit of a !!!!!! but never mind. Realised that my boss still owes me £4 for a lottery syndicate we did a few weeks back. To him, £4 doesn't even register and I guess he might think that it's pretty irrelevant to me as well - but it isn't. Left a jokey large note in pink high lighter pen on his desk about how I will take him to court if he doesn't pay up.:) Work colleague also paid for our shared lunch so that saved me £2.

Popped into garage en route to mums, got her some money out and got myself a little pouch of tobacco which should last all weekend, even managed to walk past all the on offer chocolate which was quite impressive! Haven't bought any normal packs of cigarettes since last weekend so hoping I will notice the price difference. Had dinner at mums and played charades, daughter was very happy with her £10 holiday spending money as well :D. OH came to my mums just before eight which was nice, he doesn't come over every week but does make an effort, probably more of an effort than I make with his family :o. Was chatting to mum about money and getting a second job when she reminded me about a gorgeous red ball gown that I bought a few years ago and that I should Ebay it. She then tottered off to find it for me (it's still wrapped, I never wore it!) and came down with the dress, three pairs of jeans, a pair of combats and some white linen trousers that I must have chucked in a suitcase in my old room! None of it fits but it's all Ebay-able so that's what I will be doing this weekend.

OH must have felt bad about me being so skint cos he put his hand in his pocket and gave me what he had in there, just under a fiver. I kept trying to give it back to him but he wouldn't take it so I that covered the tobacco and some of the spending money.

When we got home I id a bit of clearing up then tried to explain to OH that I seriously wanted to clear my debts this year so we could save for a house and that meant I wouldn't be able to set up the new fishtank as I just wouldn't have the funds and I didn't want him to think that I didn't do it because I couldn't be bothered, especially after he bought it for me. Then he said he was going to pay for the LED lights and buy me some bits every month until we had it all ready. I am flatly refusing at this point as he has already done so much and then I start weeping (weeping and crying are 2 very different things ;)). I think I have a bit of a dented pride issue, I hate having to be so desperate that I bug my boss for a measley £4, that I am constantly searching for something/anything to Ebay and that I can't even do anything with the tank that I didn't even have to pay for :(

I still don't want him to pay for the lights but I am not sure I have any other choice, I almost feel like I am doing to him what my ex boyfriend did to me - just take, take, take.

I know all this good planning, being frugal and so committed to debt busting is all for the greater good but I just found it a tad overwhelming tonight. Hats off to my OH though, don't think I could ever find another person so loving, generous and understanding. Going off to bed soon to catch some Z's but will pop back in the morning with my to do list and other random stuff.

    Good night all x
