It's 25 miles for me each eay to work so not walkable ;)

    The lady I saw was very nice but said that;

    A) I might not be suitable for biological drugs as it's not bad enough (even though she says I have 50%+ coverage on my legs!)

    B) Those drugs have to be prescribed and monitored by a consultant and

    C) It's all a bit above her remit!

She wasn't sure why the doctor hadn't just sent me back to the hospital . Ah well, will have to see what they say.

    Meh!

So frustrating, these things take long enough without going round in circles in the first place!

Really push for the drugs Jody, why shouldn't you have them.

    Thanks girls :)

The doctor did say that the consultant will take into accoount the psychological effect of my skin rather than just the physical appearance which is good because I think it's the psychological effect that is sometimes worse.

From what I have read, the biological drugs cost a ridiculous amount of money, to the point that funding has to be agreed by a panel . You also have to have a nuse come out and show you how to self inject! There is another drug I haven't had yet but apparently they don't like giving that to women of child bearing ability...told her I don't see that being an issue :rotfl:. The consultant I used to see was pretty good so am hoping that they will look at me sympathetically. The sillt thing is that they do something called a PASI score which looks at how raised/red/scabby the patches are (doesn't that sound glam), even with the amount I have, apparently it doesn't score that well! I did tell her that if I wasn't constantly moisturising it would look worse and she agrees but it seems a bit backward to me!

It does sound backwards, and I know that drugs are expensive blah blah blah but what's the point in having these medicines that can help us if no-one can actually get their hands on them!

Does it get better in the sun Jody? I was referred to a specialist about 3 years ago who prescribed a course of UV treatments but it was going to cost £4k so I didnt do it - I went on holiday with the money instead and it went anyway! I use a sunbed for a few mins every few weeks just to keep it in check - I have to up the useage a bit in winter or in times of extreme stress but otherwise that seems to do it for me...

    Hi EB,

The sun does really help but in a way it's catch 22 because I wont go out with arms/legs on show so don't really catch then sun unless I am on holiday :(. The last time I had full clearance was when I first got with OH and was on a dose of Methotrexate, was using a steroid based cream and using a sunbed twice a week! I think it was the combination of all 3 that did it but there aren't any local sunbeds unless I go at weekends which is a bit of a pain!

Well the weather outside is frightful......

Another day working from home! It just hasn't stopped snowing :rotfl:. A couple of my colleagues who went in yesterday stayed at work overnight (it's a hospital so it has spare beds lol, they didn't just sleep on the floor!). OH can't work today as so many roads are impassable and operation stack has closed most of the motorway .

Just checked the bank and have just under £200 to last me 2 weeks (As I get paid early), have got enough shopping to last till early next week and I am saving money by working from home :D. Hope to spend no more than £100 so the other £100 can go towards car tax which is due end of December.

Been reliably informed that my bonus is £3,250. Shame it's less than last year but I am lucky to be getting a bonus! Will wait and see what the net extra is and can then work out what I am doing in terms of extra payments :)

Sorry you've had to wait for a referral, really push to make sure you get the right treatment though, cost shouldn't matter, like Woo said, what's the point of these drugs if they won't let people have them?!

Good news on the bonus as well, mine this year was £300 so I'd be very happy with that! :D

    Enjoy your snow days :)

Great news on the bonus Jody! Gutted mine was less than usual;, but hey, I guess we're lucky to get anythig at all.

I know what you mean about the catch 22 as well. I remember coming into work in the height of summer in long sleeve polo neck jumpers and trousers...one of my clients is a skin specialist and at the end of a meeting I had with him about his legal case he took me by the hand and said "now, let's talk about you". I just burst in to tears (how professional of me - not) and he referred me along to his colleague. I remember feeling so guilty about being upset over something so comparatively minor - it wasnt life threatening, it wasnt even painful, and there I was all upset over what I told myself was vanity. It was also not helped by the fact that a friend of mine had just died in tragic circusmtances and another had been diagnosed with breast cancer. Of course when i stopped being so hard on myself I realised its nothing to do with vanity at all and I was perfectly entitled to be upset by it and once accepoting of that I found it easier to get and accept help, I think.
