I would quite like to come across these landlords lol, if it were the uncertainty of the money going into my account i would have no problem getting it signed over to them as i prefer it that way and thats the way i do it with my current landlord - there is nothing bad that she can say about us except the amount of time it took the council to sort out the LHA as they conveniently kept "loosing" our information including all bank statements etc but thats one of these things that we couldn't avoid and we kept her updated on anything we heard as well as keeping in regular contact with the local council so we could give her as much info as needed. Luckily however it was election time and one of the mp's in the area was only too willing to help which i think is just as well!!!! We do approach LA's and landlords when they state no dss just to see if there is any flexibility on that as i understand a lot of people can potentially be ripped off with the new system but would like people to hear from me first so that they know i am accomodating to the full extent that i can be and that i have no intention of ripping someone off. But i guess how do you spot these people? Can understand the landlords point of view as their bills dont just magically pay themselves but cant help thinking that the old system was slightly better.0 -
Have you approached the Council. And before you snap my head off, I know what the waiting lists are like. But, they will have people there who may be able to source an accommodating Landlord and even, possibly, guarantee the deposit for them. Might be worth a try. Failing that, local housing charities may know of landlords who are happy with LHA payments. I've not heard of it being done before, but the section dealing with LHA wouild know which landlords accept it as well. Don't know if they could/would be able to let you know, of course, but it's worth asking.0

There is a scheme in this area that makes private housing more accessable to people on LHA to reduce the waiting lists but the only ones are very expensive which would mean i would have to make up the majority of the rent, i do pay about 125 towards my rent as it is and even that is a bit of a stretch.
Didn't think about approaching local housing charities however will need to give that one a shot - whats the worst that they can say!
Dont worry didn't take offence to the council thing wouldn't even apply for one of their houses, i am sure there is people that need it much more than i do, not that i am making out that i am hard done by seriously i know people have it much worse not including single teenage mothers having kids for the wrong reasons of course.
Thanks

No worries. And, as I'm either feeling all helpfull, or stating the bleeding obvious, have you asked friends and family who already rent. Often, a personal recommendation carries considerable weight with LLs, and you might get wind of a property before it's even advertised. I'd still say speak to the Council, as they will know the best LLs to contact. One of the biggest LLs here never advertises, he gets all the tenants he needs by word of mouth.0

Well the area i live is about 30 miles away from where i was actually born and all my friends and family are so those who do rent privately do so with landlords who only have properties in that area but yeah i do agree that there has to be some out there, its just a matter of me finding them!!!0

Well, I do wish you luck. As I say, I know it isn't the easiest thing at times.0
