Public Loos

As a pregnant woman, I have the need to use Public loos more than I did before.

Why oh why, do other users feel the need to leave them in such disgusting state? how hard is it to flush the loo before you leave? not leaving loo roll all over the floor?

I work at one of the big supermarkets (checkouts) and thankfully, the customer loos are right next to the tills, I have never ever seen so much filth. We have 400 female workers, and our staff toilets are cleaned/checked 2 sometimes three times a day, and mainly just stocking up soap/roll etc..but the customer ones have to be cleaned at least every hour. Even in that time, they get into such an embarassing state...a state that (i hope) they dont leave their own bathrooms/loo in.

As for people leaving skid marks down the bog (and not using the brush) floaters, and used sanitary items in the sink:eek: yes sink...grrrrrrrrrrrr!

Rant over (for now)

I have to agree, when I last travelled over to the UK I had to use one in a pub and it was disgusting, what is happening in general over there? do people have no pride anymore? I can gaurantee if you ever come over here you will be hard pushed to find a dirty loo anywhere.

Welcome to the woderful world of cleaning. I clean at a school for two, two hour shifts (6:30 - 8:30 & 15:45 - 17:45) a day, and in the morning I have to clean the downstairs student toilets. Only yesturday I cleaned it up in the afternoon because one of the lovey little darlings decided to have nose bleed. And thats a good day.

I must give praise to the public loos at Aberdeen beach (Footdee). :D They're old (pretty ancient actually) but they're always spotless. Even the door brasses are kept polished.

Will never be as bad as when I went the Millennium dome for a new years eve 'rave' , the toilets there were the worst I have ever seen in my life, there was about 2inches in urine flooding the place with drunk people openly urinating in sinks or up walls, the actually lavatories were either over flowing or had been destroyed, even the staff were just going on the floor, disgusting place !
Worst news years party ever !

I work in a library and we have a public toilet, but have now closed it.

Every morning the cleaners would leave the loos spotless, but within a a few hours the place would be a tip. The toilets would be filthy and there'd be soap and paper all over the floor. Teenagers would go in and shove the loo rolls down the toilets. Mums would leave the changing mat filthy or put nappies down the loos or leave them on the sink (there was a nappy bin provided). It just went on and on.

We had no choice to shut it as it was costing us so much money to get the toilets unblocked and replace the vandalised/stolen bits and pieces. The locals now all whinge about us having no loos, but tough. If they can't learn how to look after things, then they get taken away.

The problem is this - the public in general have this notion that the rest of the world is there to take care of them. If they mess up a public toilet - well that's ok because someone is paid to clean it. Throw litter in the street? Someone will come right along behind me and pick it up. The vast majority of people don't care. They think nothing of dropping litter right beside a bin, allowing their dogs to foul childrens playgrounds or generally behaving as if they are the centre of the universe and it's everyone else's jobs to clean up after them. They feel that it's their (insert deity of choice) given right to make as much mess, create as much fuss and pollute their surroundings as they see fit. It's about respect. Respect for your environment and other people. I work in a benefit office, was interviewing a customer and the little **** pulled out a black marker pen and began drawing over the desk! While I was sitting there interviewing him! I asked him what the hell do you think you are doing and he looked at me like I had two heads! Sorry for the rant, but lack of personal responsibility is a real pet peeve of mine. Respect others, yourself and your surroundings. If more people did that then I really do think that our communties would be more pleasant to live in. Rant over!
