MSE and cold caller claiming to be from here!

I've been receiving a lot of unsolicited calls from the telephone number 01792 763 490, and the guy on the other end claims to be able to help with PPI misselling and/or writing off outstanding credit agreements. After using the "whoscallingme" website, I found after reading some of the comments that one of the sales guys is claiming that he is from "money saving expert.com"
Clearly, these are a bunch of chancers but if anyone new to the site receives a call from this lot, they may be duped into using their services. Surely quoting MSE is against some law or another? They are telling blatant lies! Should I report them to someone?
Thanks!

I'll move this over to the Site Feedback board so that Martin and/or the official MSE team will see it.
However, unless you have firm proof that they are claiming to be from MSE, I'm not sure what you or they can do? :undecidedFree/impartial debt advice: National Debtline | StepChange Debt Charity | Find your local CAB

01792 is the code for Swansea. YES loans are based under this dialling code! Just a thought.0

OK. Looking at the whocallsme reports, it seems that they weren't claiming to be from MSE.
Instead they were claiming to be from CCR Claims, who also trade as "Money Claiming Experts".

On the Claims Management Regulation site (the government watchdog for such firms), they list one of their trading names as "Money Claiming Expert"
Stay away from these scammers.poppy100 -
They were certainly claiming to be from this site when they rang me....I had an arguement with them over it!
Me insisting that they can't be and that any information I needed to reclaim PPI can be sought very easily using the threads on here and them insisting that they were from this site (I even said I could get all the information I needed from moneysavingexpert.com and she said, we are moneysavingexpert.com) and that only official companies could reclaim PPI, not ordinary people. We made it! All three boys have graduated, it's been hard work but it shows there is a possibility of a chance of normal (ish) life after a diagnosis (or two) of ASD. It's not been the easiest route but I am so glad I ignored everything and everyone and did my own therapies with them.

I've just got a call from them too - a woman with a REALLY strong welsh accent!
But at first, it sounded like "Hi, my name is xxxxx from Money SAVING expert.
Thing is, she knew my surname as well...
Beware!0 -
You all have hearing playing tricks with you as you are familiar with this site.......us humans sometimes hear an introductory word and we automatically fill out the rest.....bit like predictive text. On hearing the last word and it being the same as we had in our minds, we then confirm to ourselves that we know exactly what is being said..........its what many many arguements are based on.
Whist noone is deliberately misleading or telling lies........(far from it. we truly believe we are correct).......we have actually got it wrong.
You cannot deny money saving expert and money claiming expert can be misheard, especially when the caller has a very strong accent.0 -
Just call a call from them again.:wall:0

There have been a number of reports in the reclaims section. Far too many to account for mishearing. Some have been new sign ups as well who have only just visited this site for the first time after being contacted.
Given the high number of dodgy claims companies and the lies they spout, you wouldnt put it past them.I am an Independent Financial Adviser (IFA).
