I had a problem with my belkin G wireless usb adapter, it stopped working after a W7 update specifically for the unit.
Sorry cant remember if I restored W7 to an earlier update or reinstalled the belkin drivers, either way not had the problem since.
  • In my opinion Windows 7 is the first time in a LONG time that Microsoft have improved on their previous O/S.

Vista was soooo memory hungry. Win7 is miles quicker at start up/shut down!

Also I have found Belkin + Windows (especially XP) to be a baaad combination!!!

Windows 7 is nice to use, but be sure there are Win 7 drivers for your printers etc before taking the plunge. I bought a new computer with Win 7, only to discover that neither of my HP scanners will work with it as HP haven't got around to updating drivers.

Some older games are a problem too - Civ4 can be temperamental. (I know this after a morning trying to get it to work for non techie OH...)

as mentioned above, vista drivers should work fine.

Thanks, I've tried them and they are better than nothing but not perfect. I think they work fine for some hardware but not necessarily all.

On a powerful laptop/machine, Vista was "Ok"... criticism of Vista was stronger when it first come out as it was a massive memory hog compared to XP and the average users hardware spec wasn't as high then as it is now, so this fact really mattered, and alot of people found it slow. They were careful not to make the same mistake again and Win7 is a faster and less resource hungry OS, if your using a somewhat older system then Win7 can be the difference between a nippy experience with Win7 vs a real slow experience with memory hogging Vista.

Vista was an improvement in some ways over XP but they made some mistakes, in Win7 they basically fixed most of the mistakes they made, it's what Vista should have been.

I concur with pendulum. Win7 is essentially Vista Service Pack 3, but the "Vista" brand got such bad press (justifiably so) that M$ needed to ditch the name quickly since a large number of large companies simply refused to upgrade to anything labeled Vista
