It's lucky that you didn't make any comment about Snow Leopard being no great improvement on its predecessor, otherwise you would have been flamed from here to kingdom come!

Surely by definition each new version of any operating system is almost immeasurably better than the one which preceded it*? Surely you don't doubt the word of the relevant Marketing Department? Just think about how much money was spent on it!

    * We can agree to ignore Windows ME here, if you wish... :(

Im not saying its any worse by any means. Its just not this awesome jump that everyone seems to have raved about. And it does feel very similar to vista to me so far

Although I wouldn't say a milestone, there a few querks, such as wiggling a window will minimise everything but that.

And you can also drag windows to the top corners and it will make them half the screen.

Everyone was going on about how great windows 7 is over vista. But to be honest, I dont see what the fuss is all about. Am I missing something here?

Its generally the same as Vista is, save for a few different setups

trouble free you are joking I have had to put windows vista back on as 7 crashed after downloading an update and the repair option did not work, so after reinstalling w7 my belkin adaptor will no longer work:mad:

    use the vista drivers.

Winvista/server 2008/server 2008 r2/win7 are all based on pretty much the same code as each other (just like 2000/XP/2003)

more miles per gallon : does a lot more than Vista with the same resources, CPU cycle for cycle or Memory use. Vista takes a whole lot more engine to just make it tick over.

less likely to break down : much more stable than Vista which was developed for a totally different platform.

no naughty kids in the back to distract you from what your doing : the relentless checking / shadow copy / and OTT UAC level in Vista means you have to disable [ tame ] so many services just to make it responsive.

the satnav has a much more efficient dBase : Win7's capacity to find for you all you need drive any CPU on any MOBO chipset and find the correct drivers for multitude of add~on~product first time is unequalled.

Clearly you've had problem with your Belkin 99% of Vista drivers can be used on W7, are you saying that your windows 7 update picked / downloaded and installed a driver that caused your grief ?

I've been using Windows 7 since it came out, IMO it's more stable than Vista. My system is much happier with it than it was with Vista.
  • richie I am not saying that at all but the belkin was working before on w7 but is not now and i much prefer w7 to vista
