People who have paid the contributions are second class citizens in this country and are eligable for nothing.

No free prescription, glasses or hospital costs because we get a fraction more than IS which is what people who havnt paid in enough in get and to add to injury our IB (if you get the addition pension on IVB or age allowance on IB) is bring reduced for the second year in a row since April but IS isnt!

Sorry but it more than likely you cant get any help at all penny but if you give some information on area you need to get to, travel plans and disability (people may know of help available for a condition like charity or employment charity ie, SAFFA)

Do I understand it that you are looking to have a diagnosis of your ailment from a 'private' consultant - an expert maybe in his field? If so, why don't you go the route of finding out his name and searching which hospital/s he has an NHS contract with. Then get your GP to refer you to him under the NHS! Then, provided you are on low income, you can reclaim the travelling costs to see him/her. I live in Kent and found my specialist in his field working out of the main University hospital in Liverpool - 350 miles away. I receive travelling expenses based on using a car of £100.00 for each trip. This more than covers the cost of the fuel, and in fact using the many websites for late hotel rooms, it also more or less covers the night cost of a room. It may not be the Ritz, but who cares if you see the right guy.
For me I travel up there every 6 weeks for outpatients and tests/scans etc. I am certainly not out of pocket!

Thank you. From what they have told me the NHS are really bad at "diagnosing"(noticing) this and a formal assessment can only be done with this group. It takes a full day and two people, now they dont do that at the incapacity interview lol.

Is there certain benefits you need to be on then ?
I went for a job interview once and got travel and overnight expenses so does that mean I would ?
Do you go to the incapacity department for this ?

My head hurts with the first two parts ! My mother did not work her whole life due to children and therefore does not get full amount.

Norfolk to newcastle by car to people who are specialists and unavailable on the NHS.

But I had children, and i have worked since i was 15.
If she is a pensioner now she cant have spent 45 or so years bringing up children so its been her choice that she didnt work or pay enough NI contributions to get a full pension in her own right.

Dont mean to be rude but you dont seem to want to help yourself,

Sell something, have a car boot sale, raise some money other ways,
instead of expecting the NHS to pay for you.

Having said all that I do wish you well.

You can get Travelodge, Newcastle for about £19 a night, depending on the date of course.

Hi, that's what I use. Book them in advance after getting the notification to attend hospital. Shouldn't say this but I do know of people that claim petrol expenses and use National Coaches @ £10 single anywhere!!!

The pensioners are only relevant to someone asking what my situation is and as for me not helping myself it was a government company that I worked for(I received no ill health retirement money or anything they have got away with murder) just like I have begged the government for help for years ! How many people on this website or at all have actually contacted the medical department of incapacity and asked them for help !? And then when they were sat in front of them begged them to help only to be told "there is nothing we can do they should not be treating you this way" Come on then a show of hands please ! Sorry but I do take offense at that because I have for over ten years been proactive and tried LOTS of different things employment, courses, volunteer placements and self employment all off my own back and all at my own expense at some point the pot does run dry ! I cant even open the boot of my rusty car that might not make it all the way, so yes after over a decade of no help I think I deserve some ! But you know what the sad fact is that once you have experienced that laws are not upheld and that you can go for years begging for help and receive non you actually question if you want to risk being placed in that position again. After all I am quite content doing things like reading and watching documentaries if you think and the people in charge allow you to conduct yourselves in such a manor as to interfere with other peoples ability to live their lives why do I actually want to be a part of that !? Which would have cost the tax payer less to uphold the law when I was in employment or to pay me incapacity for over ten years and then give me medical treatment !?
