The Godiva Festival being held in Coventry, is on from Friday the 1st of July until Sunday 3rd. It is a great free family festival with live music from the main stage and tents, also with the added entertainment from the fairground. The festival has been named the UK's biggest free family festival! There is no camping on the site of the Memorial Park (where it's held) so it would be advised to stay at a hotel for the whole weekend.

The line up for the Friday 'Back To The 80's' Night:

    Heaven 17
    Blancmange
    The Mirrors
    MidiMidis

The line up for the Saturday Main Stage:

    Godiva Awakes Choir
    Godiva Unsigned Winner
    Shackletons
    Just Morale
    The Tones
    The Last Republic
    Young Knives
    Jon Fratelli
    Sunshine Underground
    Athlete (Headliner)

    Saturday Rhythm Tent:

    Counteration Band
    Kifaru
    Tempting Rosie
    Musical Youth
    Moberob
    The Selecter
    King Charles
    Ghostpoet
    Influencial Entertainment
    Akala
    Lethal Bizzle (Headliner)

The line up for the Sunday:

    The Ripps
    The Magnets
Anthony Harty (& The Expensive Musicians!)
    Sandi Thom (Headliner)

just did a search for the festival, found the page but also the following annoucement......

We are sorry to announce that due to the savings that Croydon Council has had to make in line with the Government Spending Review, the Croydon Summer Festival will not be going ahead in 2011.
Thank you for your support over the years.

This has to be London's best free festival - big names turn up to play each year to a happy & family-friendly crowd. Over recent years the likes of Jimmy Cliff, Stereo MC's, Ojos de Brujo, De La Soul, Finlay Quaye, the Proclaimers, Candi Staton and many other world class performers have graced Saturday's "World Party", while Sunday's Mela is a colouful Asian celebration where all are welcome to enjoy yet more stunning entertainment. Kid's areas, a funfair, other stages, great food and lots more all combines to make this a fab free event every year!

This year's no exception to the normal impressive line-up with The Lightning Seeds, Martha Reeves and the Vandellas, The Damned, Rox and more all playing at the World Party on Saturday 31st July, while Jassi Sidhu, TAZ, Raghu Dixit, Baluji and more all perform for the Mela on Sunday 1st August.
It all takes place at Lloyd Park which is a short tram ride from East Croydon Station, more details at the website, as a new user I can't post a link on here but just search for "Croydon Summer Festival" and you'll find it.

    Enjoy!! :)
  • Norwich pride takes place on Saturday 30th July

    http://www.norwichpride.org.uk/

It's their third year going strong and they have lots of events going on around the city in the lead up to the big Pride day as well.

WOuld be lovely to have this added to the list, especially as there is only one other event listed for the East Anglia region, and that is Cambridge Pride. Get the prides on the map!!!

    Ipswich music day 3rd July

Not big names but with 6 stages we always discover at least one act we keep an eye out for during the following year:

though I'm confused this time to see "Admission Free: (minimum £1 discretionary contributions welcome, includes programme)" It's always been free before, I just never bought the program.
