Apple ipod Shuffle 512MB £29 @ Asda

Shuffle and nano among all the other ipod range are well-known in the audiophile world for their outstanding sound quality.
Errrmmmm...not so sure about this. Hardcore portable mp3 player enthusiasts would probably recommend something like the Iriver over the Ipod in terms of pure sound quality. Ipods are a little easier to use and look a bit smarter (if that's your taste).
Your dyed-in-the-wool audiophile anorak wouldn't really recommend mp3 (or any other compression format) at all.
By the way, I didn't see any of these in Lancaster's Asda.0 -
Livingstone today priced on shelf £49 on offer at £29 problem was none left.0

and your normal person who had a life would just buy what's cheapest, throw out the old walkman and dance like a fool to the songs on their new "wireless"I would like to thank everyone who contributed to the Ramada/Days Inn BRG thread.0

Go and have a look at head-fi's forum. The majority of audiophiles hang out there and you will see why the nano and shuffle have good sound quality.
And at that price, you wont go wrong.
There are many different types of sound enthusiasts and not everyone can spend thousands of pounds on music devices. There are many budget consious ones who would want decent quality with a affordable price tag.0 -

Head-fi is a forum dedicated predominantly to portable player users, NOT "Audiophiles".
I'm not saying that iPods are bad - far from it, they're excellent. There are two things that would stop it from being the "Audiophile's" favourite:
1 - "Audiophiles" don't, as a general rule, like compression formats such as mp3.
2 - If they do want to compress, they'll tend to go for ogg or
wma "lossless" formats, neither of which the ipod can handle without risky firmware flashes.0 -
from what i can see on ebay most of the ipod shuffles are going for about £30/£35 anyway so may as well save money on your petrol and buy from ebay:beer: LOVE LIFE PROCEED & PROGRESS0

Well, I boutght my 512 shuffle from Argos (I got it cheap using vouchers my work gave me anyway lol) and I think it's brilliant. The sound quality, the sturdiness, the weight - anyone wanting an mp3 player to play, yes, mp3's, cannot go wrong at such a price. Since it lives in my pocket I don't care if it has a screen. I keep it on shuffle mode.
Yes I could have spent £300 on a super-fantastic bells and whistles player but when my songs sound so good on a shuffle (and this is a moneysaving forum!) what's the point!?0 -
Hi
My mum bought one of these for when she takes the dog for a walk. She says she can download 2500 tunes. It cost her £30 from Lidl and she reckons it is excellent. Neither of us are very technically minded so if it is rubbish apologiesWhat goes around - comes around
