Six years ago, I was in hospital for a week with pleurisy and pneumonia over Christmas and New Year. I thought my time was up.
Oxygen mask, drips in both arms etc.
It was not pleasant to say the least.

I now wear a few layers of clothing in the cold and keep my back, hands and feet warm and wear a woolly hat even though I look awful in one.
Being that ill gave me a big fright.

Going for my flu jab this coming Thursday.

Damp is a killer. And shivering . Like everything in life, it's a balance thing. Keep the head, don't get too extreme. Wrap up warm and don't waste power, but dont die either. LOL happy wee sod today me eh!

Still no heating on here thankfully...I've had a few disasters cooking-wise lately which gives more credence to looking for another cooker  I'm going to HAVE to wait tho, because the fridge & washing machine have both had to be replaced in the past three months

I would be looking for a totally gas cooker but they seem to be a novelty now. I know people are moving towards remoska but I'm not sure I could cope with such a drastic change to my cooking habits  As it is at the moment, I can cook both Pup's & our dinners in the oven together, but I would have to do two seperate lots if I had one wouldn't I?

Oh blubba this for a game of fairies  ...I just don't want to play at being a grown-up any more! I'm booking passage to come back as a male dog, & then all I'd have to worry about is keeping me bits :rotfl:

How is the No-Heating-Till-The-First-November Challenge going?

We are still managing without any heating here, and we haven't even delved into our stack of fleeces yet.
I am even considering holding out until the 1st December ....

Me too, I think I might be able to wait until 1st December.

Did anyone see the story about the old age pensioner who has stopped using anything electric or gas at all in protest?

I have just one question, all her food is coming from the local takeway. Apart from being unhealthy, surely that will cost her more in the long run?

    Or is it just me?

Yes, surely it will, because we stopped off at the chippie on Saturday and a portion of chips, albeit a large one, cost us £2.00!!!!!!!! I was HORRIFIED. Just think how many spuds I could have got for that!!

Talking as you did of pneumonia, when I had my flu jab a couple of years ago I was given a pneumonia jab which they said lasted for life,so I hope that's the case.

Hi, I had a pneumonia jab a couple of years ago too, after having a spell on the respiratory ward for a week with a mystery resp problem (only 35 at the time), I was told that the jab lasts 10 years. I am currently off work with a mystery resp problem again (no chest infection or asthma attack) and my mum is hounding me to put my heating on saying that it's the cold, but I actually don't think it's that cold at the moment in fact it's warmer now than it was in September, and as I have night storage heaters I am really trying to hold out until November, although I don't think I'd manage to last until December like some are talking about.
