we're aiming for 1st November before we start lighting the fire and heating the house again too. We've managed it the last few years but only because Summer really didn't arrive until Septmember here in Scotland lol. This year Summer has been the best we've had for 3 or 4 years though, just hope it can last ! We don't have an airing cupboard either,we live in a bungalow & our hot water tank is in the loft.0

Sammy Kaye , long time no chat
,
Do you remember what time of year we put our heating on at the begining of this thread ?
Well I think this year I am going for November 1st (because of the kids) , but if I was alone I would wait till xmas.
I still cant decide if its cheaper to wash up the dishes by hand or dishwasher ? But this morning I washed by hand and because the water still looked clean-ish , I used that water for mopping the kitchen floor.
Anyone know of any bargain candles for sale any where ?Kindness costs nothing0 -
cant find the latern on there ?
do you have the link to hand pleaseKindness costs nothing0 -

Hello stranger, how the devil are you?? You'll have to send me a pm later - where have you been lately?? - i think when this thread started i was putting my heating on about September/October time but im so determined that it will be November this year and even then it will be set to 18 degrees and no higher - our water already comes out scolding hot but i like it like that.Time to find me again0 -
Haribo , can you let us know if its worth buying and how long does it last for after each wind ? Cheers !
Sammy, I still have the thermals and water bottles and will be making good use of them again this year. I think it will be interesting to see how long we can keep the heating off this year now the prices are double  .
Last winter we moved the comptor into our living room , so that way we all sat in one heated room that was heated by candles :rotfl: .Kindness costs nothing0 -
We bought one of those lanterns a couple of months ago. The light is very white and it doesn't *throw* the light like a torch does IYKWIM. It has 3 settings for different brightness and I don't remember how long the charge lasts. I think it was about 20 or 30 minutes.
Having said that, it's still handy to have and hubby was using it up in the loft the other day.0
