    slept in today penny pincher, think it might have been in the families thread, not sure that you did have to be with a certain company, once i get the papers i will have a look or we could put a question on, wasnt much about £60, take care

  • Remembered when I saw the bit about polystyrene sheets under dogs beds, if its really cold and you have a bit of polystyrene thats come from packaging put your feet on that and it warms them up really well! I did consider making poly. slippers but I think that was going too far!!

    Hmm.. that's got me thinking..could we make 'bean bag' slippers with the polystyrene beads for the soles??

    penny-pincher, if you go to the benefits board and type in british gas in the search bit it will come up, afraid the cut off was feb, but dd said to phone and see if they do it this year, think it was just gas though

    Is it cheaper to boil an electric kettle or one on a gas hob?

    (I know the thing about only boiling as much water as you need).

    Yes, and I don't trust the lines on the kettle so we just run the water into our cups and boil that.
    We had a flatmate who used to fill the kettle to the brim, then get in the shower, then reboil it, then get dressed, then reboil it, then finally make just one cup of tea, it was really annoying!

    i always thought using gas was cheaper than electric but now it seems electric is better.
    we have an electric fire and im always too scared to use it.

    went into the shop ROBERT DYAS in fareham today and picked up a bargain...
    3x energy saving light bulbs for £2.99 Reduced from £4.99.

    I was tempted to round my meter reading up just before the price went up, so I bought more at the lower price. Not sure how naughty this is, so I just round up rather than adding a few hundred units on!
