Hi there! This is the Old Style Daily Thread for Tuesday 18th May.It is an 'Over the garden fence' type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!
As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or slow internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred.
When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new Daily Thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two Dailys' live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new Daily Thread after they get up in the morning.
Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “Hi everyone, hope you are all well” type start is just as good

Morning. Hi folks, cloudy with a chance of showers today. I have work at 1300, so I hope to be able to get a few jobs done before hand.
I made 2 doors for the polytunnel, just have to hang them today as I did not have the right hinges yesterday. It's getting there though. I did not think it would take this long, but I guess once done I hope it will start to fill with fruit and veg.

Work was so so, nothing much new, we had a visit from one of the bosses, so we were able to have a mank and a moan. Don't think much will happen though. Also had to do 'on line' health and safety training... boring. There followed a survey, which we had to report if we could not conform to the codes. Based on that we will all be getting new chairs, monitors, typing lessons, heating, desks, etc.... We shall see

Well, have a good day....

Morning N9eav and all to follow.

Looks like a nice day again here, will get the wm going in a while. I did not get round to mowing the lawn yesterday so must get that done.

DD got on quite well in her french exam yesterday, fingerscrossed for a good mark, biology on Friday and something else monday.

We have to go the the place tonight where she has her work experience, for an informal interview, so she needs to write her questions down.

Dinner tonight will be chicken kiev (bogof) wedges and asparagus with sweetcorn.

Ordered another two voile roller blinds last night for the study, it will be nice to be able to sit in there and not feel that the neighbours ate looking in when they go past.

Ok better get on, have good days all xx

    Morning Everyone

Redruby - glad DD did well, good luck for the rest.

Its very quiet here, DS doesn't stop talking from the moment he gets up till he goes back to bed so it is very strange with no chatter! He went off ok yesterday and hopefully he is having a great time.

Sun is shining here and it looks lovely outside. Plan was to get up really early and get my paperwork out of the way but ended up having a very late night so that is out the window. Think will plan to get as much done in the office this morning then get out and do stuff in the garden later. Still need to clear out the gutters so maybe get that done (OH can't do heights) :o

Anyway best get on, have a great day.x

Needless to say a couple loads of washing will get done

Got a relaxing day planned today, hopefully :D
Ironing to do and some washing and just general tidying up but nothing too strenuous.
Sorry for my moan about DS yesterday I was just so shocked that the police were here and the thought that he might have had anything to do with an incident like that. The police have assured me that he didn't but it was a shock none the less!!
In a pickle because I've been telling him he has to walk away from any difficult situation but then I said why didn't you do something:think:
Had a nightmare day yesterday but its too long to go into. Today will be better:D
Glad you're alomost there with the poly tunnel N9eav, its looking fab:T
Hugs to anyone who needs/wants them. I'll pop back later

Redruby - Good luck with the rest of DD exams. Must be stressful times x

Sunny and bright here this morning and the forecast says we should have a good day, we'll have to wait and see. Work was not so busy yesterday so had a more gentle start to the week, although had a very awkward customer who shouted at me and called me a few choice names - hey ho goes with territory and fortunately over my head!

Managed to get a huge line of washing dry yesterday and have another already out today so am being very OS. Dinner tonight is HM lasagne for DS1 and myself with jacket potato and salad and jacket potato and fish fingers for DS2 - OH is at a meeting and won't be home until later.

Am feeling very pleased with myself as the handle broke on my food processor and as it's the safety locking mechanism it wouldn't work at all so thought I would have to buy a whole new processor - wasn't that impressed as it's a good quality one and wasn't cheap, I do use it but it doesn't get heavy use. Tried to purchase one from A****s and nearly all out of stock continually and so I found the manufacturers website and purchased a new bowl (think they must have discovered a design fault as it's been made slightly differently as is much more sturdy too) which was sent directly to me for £21 - a big saving on £100+ for a new one!!

Time to go and get ready for work.

    Have a good day everyone.

Keep safe and well everyone, hugs to those that need them.

    morning!

    quiet here this morning!

(((hugs))) to Diva. PP and ladygrim x

redruby - glad your DDs exam went well x

another day off today and its nice and sunny:j
    Plans for today are

    cleaning at Mums this morning
gardening and going to the skip to do some recycling this afternoon

the house is clean and tidy. Not decided on whats for dinner yet - will have a look in the freezer in a mo.

DS1 has now had an email from his ex-landlord saying the walls need painting and the carpets need cleaning:eek: despite it getting passed ok in the inspection the other day:mad: He's written them a long letter outlining his points and if he gets nowhere will consult the CAB for advice. I think they are trying it on to keep the deposit as the flat looked fine to me. There were marks on the carpet but they were there when he moved in and were pointed out to the landlord's person at the time, one of which was an iron burn and my son has never owned an iron!

    Hope everyone enjoys the sunshine

    take care x

HoneyB - Hope you have a better day today. Don't worry too much about contradicting yourself to DS - us parents are only human too and saying the right things is very hard ... especially when you don't know what they are yourself.

    Morning all :hello:

Well ... came back to bed with my cup of tea and breakfast this morning because am feeling sorry for myself cos have the delightful tummy pains and headache that goes with AF :( DD's have been brill and got themselves dressed .. thinking it's very funny that they are ready before me!

I'm going in to spend time with DD2 this morning on a family learning course ... if anyone gets the chance to do this course I can highly recommend it.

Weighed myself yesterday and was very pleasantly surprised to find that I've lost 6lb since last time I weighed myself :)

OS wise ... cheese omlette/veg for lunch, egg bread and rice pud for tea. I'll do a bit of flying and freshen up the house when I get home ... need to mop kitchen floor too.

Still no decision made on the garden ..... hmmmmm

Hope everyone has a great day xxx

    Morning all

It's beautiful and sunny here, and warm! :D Shame I'm indoors today!

DW and WM were on this morning. I've decided to put the washing on the balcony to dry. It's the first time I would have left it out there all day whilst at work. It's not windy, everything is pegged to the airer's and the airer is tied to the railing so it should be ok! I normally do my washing on weekends cos then I'm usually here to bring it in if it rains/gets too windy. But it's too nice a day to leave it dry inside, I want that outdoor smell on it!

I'm going to take a longer lunch today so I can go to bank to pay in money, take some things back, pop to Home Bargains and other places for some bits, and hopefully get to the sport shop for some gym trainers. I have no work kids this week, just lots of admin and meetings to get on with.

Not sure what's for dinner, maybe stirfry as I didn't have that yesterday.

    Have a good day all

    Morning All ,

Bright and sunny here but I'm still feeling a bit ropey from the weekend. Not sure what I've got (if anything) but DH was complaining of feeling a bit odd over the weekend so I'll blame him :)

Doesn't help that I've got a rather busy day today either - I've got numerous meetings today that I could really do without, (in fact that might be my first task to see how many I can get out of) then I've got a driving lesson at 4:30 so I have to leave work 10 minutes early, and then DH and I need to go to Tesco. Phew, I have a feeling I'll be well and truly ready for my bed come 10pm tonight!

Hope everyone is ok, hugs to all xx

    Morning All,

The sun is shining and I'm feeling good today! DS1 is still a poor wee soul hopefully the antib's will kick in today. DS2 has made me smile this morning, he's such a lovely happy wee thing, and always has something nice to say. Spoke to his friends mum yesterday as the other boy's birthday is only 6 days before him, they wanted to do lasertag, so we're giving them a joint party, as it's mostly the same kids who are invited, and we'll just pay half of what we would have for one each! The boys think it's a fab idea, and then we'll just have a wee tea thing here on his birthday and they can play in the garden.

Washing is on, packups in bags, boy just about to be hustled out of the door. Plan for today is to clean all the skirting board in the house, and finish my front borders in between being Florence Nightingale.

Hugs to all, as ever. and especially NPM, you're never far from my thoughts, hope things are OK.
