Calling all ladies..............Engagement ring help needed

Hi All,

I know this is a very strange question. BUT...

I am going to propose to my girlfriend next month, and have had loads of hints from her as to which style of ring she wants!! I have found this ring online and now she will love it, but my question is: Is it an engagement ring? to me an engagement ring is a band of gold with a big rock on top! I am going to order it this week so really need some advice or a yes or no. Please help

An engagement ring is the ring you give someone when you become engaged - it isn't any particular kind of ring.

one of my friends has an engagement ring very similar to that so I would say yes it it. If you think she will love it then IMO go for it. Not everyone likes the traditional gold and diamond ring, my friend had to have her wedding ring hand made to go with her engagement ring because none of the traditional wedding rings matched it.

(don't let that put you off thought it actually turned out cheaper than buying a bog standard ring )

Congratulations and the ring is perfect imo:D but do think about wedding rings, if you're planning on getting married in the near future see if the ring comes as a 'wedding set' with the matching wedding ring so it'll fit next to the wedding ring when you get married otherwise it can be difficult to find a ring to sit nicely with it, take it from one who knows;):)

It's an engagement ring if you want it to be an engagement ring!

I think traditionally an engagement ring has diamond in (you'll find this if you search through online) but essentially it doesn't matter. When we can afford it/get round to it (that sounds bad doesn't it LOL!), my ring hopefully will be white gold with a deep blue tanzanite, princess-cut (square shaped) and that's it.

You know what she wants so she'll be happy, you'll be happy, no problem!

I think it is beautiful but my only comment would be the same as the previous poster - it looks like it is a different shape and it might be difficult to match it with a wedding band. Depends on your budget but there are some beautiful rings - if you can give us an idea of price banding - we can find some for you (more like dream shopping for myself!!!)

It's a lovely engagement ring. You can get a wedding band made to fit around it.

Just be aware if your OH handles any chemicals (hairdressers, etc) that white gold rings are not the same colour the whole way through and the top layer can wear away to reveal yellow underneath.

Love the ring.

My engagement ring was shaped and when we were going to get married my engagement ring was sent off so the wedding ring was made around it.
