Like Talk Talk 0845/0870 calls are no longer inclusive presumably from 1/7/2015.0 -
I came across this thread when looking to see if anyone had the same views as me - I only got as far as reading to page 2 and i have the impression that I am not the only one with issues.
I joined UW this time last year as a favour to our financial advisor (who we trusted) as we were moving house so he'd essentially have 2 new customers. So there were no problems to start with and then we moved house and all the issues started. Our broadband was due to start on the day we moved in but whoever i spoke to didn't actually order that to be done - or in fact note that we were moving so we were 3 weeks without broadband - ok for some but I do a lot of work from home so i then had to go and spend more money on mobile broadband. we have been tied into this bb contract for a year because and engineer had to come out - an engineer did not come out but apparently that doesn't matter because he must have gone to an exchange near by - UW have never been able to prove this happened but apparently they don't have to so i've been stuck with them.
So after that was finally sorted, I was suddenly unable to get voicemail messages on my mobile phone - i emailed them about it and the reply i got was how to solve broadband problems! Small issue, but another in the list of frustrations.
The final thing is that I finally got around to taking a really close look at my bill a couple of months ago only to find that for gas and electricity we are around £800 in debit! I have to take some of the responsibility because it was right there in black and white when i looked back at the bills but I can't believe that they have allowed the debt to rack up this much - my previous provider was npower and they upped by direct debit at the slightest whiff of an overspend! I did write to them about it - apparently the review this annually but I'm pretty sure when I moved they said they'd be reviewing after 3 months. So today I decided to get some quotes from other providers to see what i should be paying and even British Gas are cheaper! I'm currently paying £111 for dual fuel and the current debit balance is £840 which is about £70 - so I should have been paying approx £181 - British Gas quoted £177 - and I'm on double gold because I had all the services with UW so it should at least be cheaper than any of the quotes I've looked at today right? Wrong! UW is always the most expensive!
Sorry for the long post, I'm really annoyed with myself for falling for this!! Maybe UW is good for those who manage to sell it on and get commission or get cashback off the bill but its no good otherwise!0 -

I still provide readings every month so that I can keep tabs on the company I am now with. The mind of the bigot is like the pupil of the eye; the more light you pour upon it, the more it will contract.

Welcome to the forum.
When it comes to making money for themselves, few people give you unbiased advice; the normal starting point for UW salesmen is to sell to family and friends.
The only way to get the true predicted cost of your gas/electricity is to enter your details into a comparison website using kWh. www.energsavinghelpline.com as an example.
You will then discover that UW have some of the most expensive gas/electricity tariffs in UK - even with their double gold tariff.
Just as example, in my area(Midlands) using the UK average consumption the UW Double Gold tariff is 24.7% more expensive than the cheapest available tariff, and there are 45 tariffs cheaper than the UW Double Gold tariff.
So if you are paying £181 a month for gas/electricity with UW you are certainly paying hundreds of pounds a year more than the cheapest available tariff.0 -
Earlier this year i moved home & went through the palava of trying to switch everything & as it was a new build, i was unable to take my talktalk phone service & utility warehouse electric and gas with me.
I was unaware i had £6 owing to utility warehouse & as they knew i had moved home, you would think they would have contacted me via mobile phone or email about this issue, but instead send letters to my old address, which i have only just discovered last week. They are threatening legal action & increased the sum to £9.
I have just spent 30 mins trying to pay this over the phone to their automated system & im getting hung up on randomly every time.
If this has ruined my credit rating ill be fuming, find it a bit cruel to make a big deal of £6, knowing we had moved house & not even give us a call or email. Very dissapointed & frustrated. Utility warehouse never again.0 -
I would advise people against Utility Warehouse, their service is renowned for being awful and beware of people who tell you to switch your gas and electricity to them.
They are one of the more expensive suppliers on the market, but people will say they are cheap to persuade you to switch and then earn commission off you or even a reduction off their own bill. I had a cab driver make the outrageous claim that they're the cheapest supplier on the market and hand me his business card the other week.0 -
