Still no mention of UW's gas and electricity prices I note.
Don't suppose you would like to tell us what income you get from UW?
Of course. NONE. Is that simple and unequivocal enough for you at this time on a Saturday evening? And talking of posters ignoring points made....look no further than the mirror, my 'jolly' friend. No comeback on your many errors in your original post I see? Love it when you just quote a very small part of my responses to you on here. Shows you've lost yet another argument. You're like a Jack Russell, never know when you are beaten lol. Night night.0 -
Still no mention of UW's gas and electricity prices and their claims of a cheapest tariff.
You spend your time on this forum slamming all the Utility Companies(often with good reason!) however your beloved UW attracts nothing but praise.0 -

In my experience of them (i.e unlike you, I am a long standing customer) they are one of the better companies in a simply awful industry. That doesn't mean to say they are beyond reproach because they aren't. I have previously stated on here I was annoyed when they offered free lifetime membership to customers signing up in July this year whilst I had to continue paying £30/yr. They have now scrapped my membership fees also and improved the services I take from them meaning I will pay considerably less than before. I haven't been too keen on the 0844 CS number in the past (although I never paid it anyway) and they have now scrapped that. It's progress, I guess.
Whilst we are on the subject, I do find it strange that someone who has never been a customer spends so much time slagging them off (and constantly getting beaten in arguments on here). What's your excuse? Is it because of your obsession with me?0 -
Didn't on mine, hence the comment. I didn't previously qualify for the £10,000 life cover as they would not upgrade my account for some reason.
I wonder if it's differently worded for customers who were on the Silver Membership then? But anyway it's definitely £2/mth as per their site and is entirely optional. I'm not convinced I will keep it tbh. Which means I have saved £2.50/mth already plus the other improvements to my package which will save me some more. What's not to like?0 -
Not quite sure where all the exchanges are hoping to lead.
Anyway for those who want to know with UW their gold tariff is
Gas
Daily Standing charge 18.014 Pence per kWh 4.481 Pence.
Electricity
Daily Standing charge 18.877 Pence per kWh 13.735 Pence.
Like most things these days its all bit of a minefield whoever you go with, after all their all in it for the money

It takes a lot of energy to be negative. You have to work at it. But smiling is painless. I'd rather spend my energy smiling0 -

Been checking how much more my son will pay for his gas and electric (8500 gas, 2000 electric, Yorkshire, existing Gold customer) after the increase and going by Cardew's favourite comparison site (energyhelpline) it's £35/yr (i.e a tad over a 5% increase)
Probably due to them adding in the £18 club fee twice (if you were wondering why Cardew used them in his calculations
). Funnily enough, as he pays the £2.50/mth Silver Membership at present (he wanted monthly paper bills and to pay for exact month's usage by inputting meter readings each month) energyhelpline's 'silly' quote is actually only £6 off the mark so a £41/yr effective increase (approx a 5.6% increase, almost 5% less than UW's energy wholesaler's average increase). UW's energy prices are going in the right direction compared to the market.
Incidentally, I did a comparison of all other accurate monthly billing tariffs on the market (not even paper billing ones either) and this is what energyhelpline came up with:

The comparison sites haven't got/acted upon UWs new figures yet btw.0 -
UW are a joke if you are an Economy 7 electricity customer, they have just increased the cost of off peak electricity (in the Yorkshire area) by 32%. They claim "we guarantee you will save money compared to the average of the cheapest variable tariffs available from the 'Big 6' suppliers". Averages are meaningless.
Yesterday I moved back to nPower. It's no contest, nPower on their fixed price deal until April 2015 are way cheaper and they don't try and sneak payment protection insurance on you (their Bill Protection). Have they not read the papers in recent years concerning miss-sold PPI that many people don't need?
Neither do nPower charge £4.90 plus vat standing charge per month, it's £7 a year with nPower.
nPower might not have the best customer service, but they have a better bottom line price for E7 electricity.0 -
