The Utility Warehouse/Telecom Plus offer a wide range of services, not just gas & electricity, but also including telephone services (landlines & mobiles), broadband, credit card (with up to 10% cashback), and cashback from a wide range of retailers and insurers.

More misleading spam, (and uw reps can't just use this thread for blatant advertising like this)

Their products are all expensive, they don't have a cashback credit card at all and their cashback offers from insurers and retailers is a poor alternative to the usual cashback sites.

Worse is that you must pay a monthly membership fee to use the cashback site, you must take at least one service and your "cashback" isn't cash back at all, but given as a credit against their bill!

They don't offer a credit card. A credit card is paid in arrears with interest applying. UW offer a prepaid payment card.....and why quote 10%. Even UW doesn't quote 10% they say up to 7%. 10% cashback can only be obtained at one retailer treatme.net. An overpriced retailer that very few people actually use. The cash back is most popular with Sainsburys at 3% cash back. If you had said around 5% I wouldn't have had an issue.

A wide range of retailers...not....More money can be saved by shopping at Adli and Lidl that can ever be saved by shopping at Sainsburys (the only major supermarket in the cash back program) and getting 3% cash back.

Yes, you are correct, it is a prepaid card. It is accepted anywhere that you see the Mastercard sign.

With regards the amount of cashback, it does vary by retailer

    The maximum is from:
    "Treatme.net
Use your CashBack card and get 10% CashBack on your bill"

    https://www.utilitywarehouse.co.uk/cashback/cashbackCard

Hence why I said up to 10% cashback.

    HTH :)

I see Quentin has posted another message. No doubt stating how expensive Utility Warehouse offerings are. Perhaps somebody would ask him/her how it is that I have two mobile phones (One PAYG and the other on contract) from the company and a couple of months ago, after using the pre payment card, UW put money into my account instead of taking it out?

If you are a UW reseller then I really would not mention "up to" anything to a potential customer. If that potential customer was me you'd be out the door with no sale. I can't stand sales pitches that say up to this or that when only one overpriced useless item is sold at that price. What I would highight is the 3% cash back you could get on all your grocery shopping at Sainsburys which could pay towards your UW bill.

Thanks for the advice, but I'm not a UW reseller.

Are you a potential UW customer? :)

If so, there's lots of UW distributors on here who I am sure would be pleased to help you with your purchase. They'll tell you anything you want to hear if it'll seal the deal :rotfl:

Mobile tariffs only....including data and minimum £1.50 UW memebership fee.

UW £11.50 300 mins, UL texts, 250MB data
    Tesco £10 500 mins, 5000 texts, 1GB data

UW £14 600 mins, UL texts, 500MB data
    Virgin Essential £12 1200 mins, 2500 texts, 1GB data

UW £16.50 1200 mins, UL texts, 1GB data
    Virgin Essential £12 1200 mins, 2500 texts, 1GB data

UW £21.50 5000 mins, UL texts, 2GB data
O2 simplicity £20 UL mins, UL texts, 1GB data. 12 months. You might have got me on that one as I can't find a one month contract with 5000 minutes for £20.

    UW PAYG minimum £3.50 a month @ 7p/minute, 4p/text, 20p/MB.
Ovivo Free £0 100 mins, 100 texts, 300MB data. On UW that would have cost £7 plus £4 plus something... let's ignore data and say £11 with no data.

So only one good tariff then.

    You forget to mention:

    1) You have to buy the card in the first place

    2) You have to pay ongoing monthly fees and a fee every time you top up the card

    3) You have to pay a monthly fee on top of this by way of the monthly club membership fee

    4) Unlike any mastercard cashback credit card, you don't get cashback everywhere you see the mastercard sign. The "cashback" is only from limited uw partner retailers.

    5) You have to have at least one service from UW. They are not the cheapest, so you have to pay more in the first place then reduce the bill by way of buying and paying fees for a risky card and just being a busy fool.

    6) The cashback goes onto your uw bill as a credit, (not a cashback payment into your bank)

    7) You say you have 2 mobile deals with them - but you could get them cheaper elsewhere (and get retention deals of course- not possible with uw!). Then shop wherever you want with a standard cashback card and get cashback on everything you spend everywhere, and get it in cash instead of having to manage the spend required at UW partner shops just to break even on the costs involved!

Oooh, the spin . I think you mean one UNBEATABLE tariff, not GOOD :rotfl: And how many of those other tariffs you list allow you to reduce the amount you pay each month (in some cases down to NIL or even less!)by spending on groceries etc? Any idea how many guarantee you will be speaking to a UK-based call centre every time you call? And do they all allow you to cap the tariff for free? Plus for existing UW customers you can knock off £1.50 from each of the prices you quoted. Horses for courses, I guess, but this ridiculous notion that UW can't be the best solution for some people is really quite embarrassing, frankly.

More details please. Is this 'cash' given in hand or placed on your bill? Is it paid monthly? Is the card you mention available to anybody? Is it a credit card? Blah blah blah...

They have UK call centre's but unlike UW they are open 24 hours 7 days a week and it's free to call where UW charge an extra £1 per month. They do allow capping. The £1.50 fee has to added somewhere and as gas/electric pricing isn't very competitive and the home phone/broadband product is even less competitive @ £24.74 a month (Tesco is £20.25 a month) then adding it here is the most likely place to add it.
