We had phone calls with UW and BT line. I switched to another provider last year and had to return two 'pig shaped diallers' which must have been 15 years old ! They were very light so only cost £2.70 1st class. I made sure I had proof of posting as they had sent a letter stating that we would be charged £29.99 each if they were not returned by 28th December 2011.
Haven't heard anything from them since but I am prepared if they do"Any equipment we have supplied, and which was not purchased from us by you (eg. routers) remains our property at all times and must be returned to us at your expense in the event you decide to terminate the service".

Hi all, posted elsewhere.
We are with UW, Gas + Elec, + Home Phone.
We are looking to cancel home phone.
Is there any penalty?0 -

It's annoying that even the debt collectors to don't know what's going on. The woman I spoke to didn't even know why she was chasing me for money or how long I'd owed it. I told her I'd return the router and ten days later get another call saying if it's not back in 10 days it'll get "handed on to someone else". I said as long as there are no charges (she said there wouldn't be) tell UW to go ahead and waste more time/money chasing something I'VE ALREADY TOLD THEM ABOUT.
Although in a bitter sweet way it's funny that they've probably spent double the time/resources than the cost of the router trying to get it back. If they're that quick to pay external debt collectors to get involved surely they may as well just start a router collecting service by their reps based on commission and save money?0 -
If you are concerned about postage costs(I appreciate it is the principle) how much were phone calls to DCA? (they normally have a premium or 0844 No)
Have you checked if it has affected your credit record?0 -

Is it a BT line, or have they transferred you to their LLU service?
If they have transferred you, then depending on how you were set up, they have minimum contracts of up to 24 months, with early termination fees to pay to get out.
Also, you will need a new installation of a bt line (the post office currently install new lones free)
If you are contemplating a change of phone to save money, do a comparison on how much cheaper you can get your energy elsewhere whilst you are in the mood!!!0 -

I very much doubt it, we have been with them around 4-5 years anyway so would be well out of contract.
I just don't understand if we get a structured discount based on the number of services we take with them.0 -
Even if you do, check how much it is to buy your energy elsewhere! Put your consumption into any of the MSE recommended comparison sites to find out how much you can save buying energy elsewhere.0
