Thanks for that. I'm on the south coast and the roof is south facing so it should be nearer the top end. I would have thought it will be on 50% of the generated electricity as I think this is the assumption of the average amount fed back into the grid. If this is the case it means the UW 2p benefit would be £40 p.a. My sister is a UW ID and I have previously given her the opportunity to better the price I could get (at the time) by switching to the most competitive provider. She's been very persistent but has never managed to do this, and we've not fallen out over it (yet). She's told me about the UW 2p on top offer but I felt I needed to research this independently for the sake of our relationship!
The 50% issue was the question I posed earlier.
For those unaware of the PV subsidy system(FIT = Feed In Tariff), owners get the FIT rate(43.1p) for every kWh they generate. However it is usually assumed that you will export 50% of that generated electricity to the grid and be paid a further 3.1p/kWh for that 50%.
To further complicate matters you can have an export meter fitted and accurately ascertain how much of your generated electricity you export to the grid. This for larger systems will usually be more than 50% exported.
As said earlier - the devil is usually in the detail!0 -
Hi All
I am considering becoming a distributor and wondered if this is a good decision. I have read a lot of negative press on the internet and obviously there seem to have been a lot of heated discussions about it on here which I have missed?
What are the pro's and con's as I would not want to recommend it to family and friends if it would not be in their interest. I am a new customer as well so it is early days to find out if this will be a good decision although on the face of it is seems okay.
Hi
I've been a customer and distributor for 13 years. Very few of my personal customers are people I know. It isn't about friends and family per se - it's about showing anyone who want to listen and who think they could benefit from using UW services. There is no hard selling involved despite what the naysayers on here will try and tell you. That simply doesn't work.
If you are a happy customer wouldn't you want to tell people about it. If you're not - you won't.
Pros - you can make a lot of money if you want
Cons - you have top put the work in
Hope that helps.

Just to clarify one thing that Keggs says.
When discussing/promoting an mlm opportunity the OFT require the following to be pointed out.
"Do not be misled by claims that high earnings are easily achieved"
Exactly, bendtoy. It's possible - very possible but people shouldn't be misled. No NM company worth their salt will. But that should apply to any business whether NM or so called traditional.
I really don't understand these people who somehow think MN business is something peculiar it isn't. In fact it's so called traditional business that is peculiar. Networking is something we have always done as a species. It's how mankind has developed. It's what we used to do in our towns, villages and city areas before supermarkets took over. Network Marketing is just getting back to basic principles of trading, but to a much more sophisticated level.
I prefer to deal with people I don't know for one simple reason - I make new friends that way.0 -
UW thoughts on windfall tax.
"Andrew Lindsay from small provider Utility Warehouse said taxes were not the solution. He said: ‘The big six are not profiteering, whatever people say.
‘Only about 40 per cent of the energy bills are commodity pricing and the vast amount of the rest is put through by governments in taxes and levies. This is why they are so keen to push the blame onto the energy companies.’"

I've been away a few days and wondered if Quentin has offered any evidence that anybody at all, ever, has lost out by using the UW pre payment card? The mind of the bigot is like the pupil of the eye; the more light you pour upon it, the more it will contract.

How childish can you get?
Nigewick delights in telling us frequently that he has me on "ignore", then posts this, which has no purpose (other than cause trouble).
But of course many UW members have "lost out".
We have heard the reps being taught to sell the card as a way of reducing UW's expensive energy bills.
Only a gullible would fall for that.
They "lose out" by being a busy fool. Buying expensive energy from UW, then using the card at UW partner retailers just to let UW keep the "cashback" towards paying the bill!
Money savers would be getting their energy at the cheapest rates, then looking at how best to maximise the use of any cashback card so that they get the discount themselves!
(But Nigewick knows this to be true, as do all the UW reps!)0 -

Your answer to the question you actually knew NigeWick was asking would be a 'no' then.
PS Still no mention of the mobile deals from either you or your comedy sidekick, I see?
I have the £10/mth SIM only deal. For this I get 500 mins and truly unlimited texts* On a 30 day rolling contract. Unbeatable? Better than the deal you are on? Can Cardew beat it?
* As long as the number of different mobile numbers you text to in a calendar month is less than 100.0 -
