I too am a very fussy eater, so know exactly where you are coming from!! It's not easy, and it's makes it harder when people try to tell you to stop being so fussy, when you can't help it!!
Like the others have said though, cut down your portions, and try to eat little and often/regular thoughout the day.
And when I wanted to lose weight and tone up before I used.... it sounds and looks silly
but I bought one of these: http://www.argos.co.uk/static/Product/partNumber/3530560/Trail/searchtext>DANCE+MAT.htm
Yes it's for kids, but I was doing between 4-6 days a night. And as I'm on the countdown to my wedding, mine is coming back out0 -
I actually know what you mean about water. I hate it, I'll only drink it filtered through a brita filter, and even then I really don't want to. What squash do you drink? If it has sugar in it like ribena or most regular squashes you could find it adds up to 4-500 calories a day without even realising it. Try swaping to a no added sugar one, I have Tesco's hi-juice as its 50% real fruit juice, and under 20 calories for a pint.
With not eating fruit or veg though I think your options are limited. Carbs and fats WILL put weight on you, so your options are to severely cut down on the ammount you are eating to try to loose the weight, or switch for healthier foods. And I'd be less concerned about the extra pounds and more concerned about the long term effects on your health, vitamin tablets don't absorb anywhere near as well as actual vitamins and minerals, and a life long deficency can have serious implications such as being more prone to mental health problems and various cancers. Can you try to disguise vegetables or fruits in any way? In a sauce for example? You can do some amazing things with veggies, I make a cauliflour mash which my spud loving Irishman of a H2B can't tell from the real thing.
Fad diets don't work, balanced nutritional changes do. Go back to basics and look at a balanced food plate and compare it to your own. Try to get a wide variety of colours on there, cut out as much processed foot as you can as they are stacked with sugar and salt, a piece of meat should be no bigger than a pack of playing cards, carbs should not constitute more than 1/3-1/4 of your daily intake and so on.
Please don't take this as me getting at you, I'm trying to give you the information to try and help. I really do know how hard it is. When my H2B moved to England he ate only root vegetables, no fruits, drank coke like it was his lifeblood and had lived off white bread, pasta, noodles and meat for years. It was basically a beige diet! The first time he tried a grape he retched, and a raspberry made him physically sick. He knew it was psychological, and my brother being a nutritionist really hammered home how much he was harming his body. So he just kept trying the different foods, and I won't say it was easy, and its still ongoing, but he's now got onions, sweet potatoes, parsnips, butternut squash, green beans, mange tout, pineapple, apples, blueberries and cranberry juice introduced now, he's switched to wholemeal bread and pasta and eats them rarely, which is a huge step forward. You can become healthier, it will give you more energy, better skin and hair and the pounds will fall off you. You have the strength to make the changes.

I've found the 10 Minute Solutions DVDs really work if you don't have a lot of time. They are 50 minute DVDs divided into 10 minute workouts so you can do as much or as little as you have time for :j
I've got the 'blast off belly fat' DVD and you really will notice the difference (and feel the pain!) after you try it - they are quite intense 10 minute segments. The DVDs are about £5.00 each new on Amazon.
Also, I too used to be a fussy eater. I had real trouble forcing myself to try veg and fruit. What I gradually started to do was add veg to things like a roast dinner, where I could cover it in gravy and smother the taste until I got used to it - now I can eat steamed veg. For me I found it was more the texture in my mouth than the taste. See if you can add things like carrots and peppers to spag bol and you will will be eating it without realising it.:D0 -
what about going to the GP and getting some therapy if you dont think you can conquer it on your own?
they will be able to tell you the best ways to gradually introduce foods you dont like into your diet much like people with phobias(which maybe what you have) are desensitised
you definitely arent eating enough as your body thinks you are starving it between your only two meals so it holds onto all of the fat to keep you goingI am not bossy I just have better ideas:p0 -
What do you actually eat & enjoy? Perhaps we can suggest some lower fat alternatives?
You mentioned sandwiches, you could try lower fat fillings, or omit the butter/spread, perhaps use a low fat salad dressing lightly spread on the bread to make it moist. Or could you try wraps, as these are lower in fat than bread and don't need spread? With some grilled chicken inside perhaps.
Give us a clue as to what "fatty foods" you enjoy; there are often alternatives. Things like baked potato wedges can be substituted for chips, grill things instead of frying etc.
I know it can be very hard, but not making any changes will clearly not get you anywhere!
Your job sounds very active & that's good, but get as much exercise as you can too, walk daily even if only for a short time and then you will burn off more.

I'll echo what a couple of others have said & say that the first step you need to take is to try to address your "fussy" eating. Trying to diet with such a restricted food & drink selection sounds like it could be really stressful (not what us pretty brides to be need!).
Either go to the NHS to see a dietician, or a weightloss group, or maybe even hypnotherapy.
The key step you seem to need is having a healthy diet with a broad range of foods to eat. Fruit & veg are so important, not just for lower calorie intake, they also have fibre, which moves everything along in your digestive system, rather than processed foods which can make you sluggish.
Have you tried making roasted vegetables (which have a lovely sweetness to them) or stir-fry's? These are both healthy ways to prepare veg with flavour.
As for the water - this is key too - it helps flusk out toxins stored in your fat.
Water is pretty boring, and I used to be terrible for not drinking much.
I remember trying to start doing the "2 litres a day" challenge a few years ago & felt really sick. But this was because I was trying to chug down the water.
I changed my approach, and kept a bottle at my desk & took tiny sips often, and was soon able to easily get through 2 litres without feeling like my tum was sloshing!
Sorry for the long post! To sum up, concentrate on eating a healthy normal range of foods, then worry about the weightloss later. Also, 2 meals a day isn't enough - your body will think you are fasting, and will store more energy as fat & metabolise it much slower than if you eat more regular meals.0 -
I'll second the suggestion of drinking from a bottle, for some odd reason it's a lot easier and nicer to drink than from a glass! Odd, but it works!
I used to be super fussy and I'm only just starting to get a little better. What did it for me was when I went on a low carb diet a couple of years ago (which I've come off now but I can tell the difference, I really need to get back into that mindset that I had when I lost that weight!). Anyway, all of my staples (rice, bread, pasta, potatoes) were taken away and I had to replace them with something. I learned to love butternut squash in all forms. It's lovely par boiled, cut into 'chips', sprinkled with a little spice and roasted with a little spritz of olive oil. It also makes nice mash! I find that the best way to get veg into me is by having a stir fry, lots of little bits of veg with some soy sauce and a little splash of sweet chilli sauce and some chicken is filling. I also discovered that spinach is a great filler in things like bolognase or chilli, chops loads up (it shrinks down to nothing) and add it in near the end, it's good for you, pads it out and you can't taste it! I also used spinach leaves as a base for salads because I don't like most salad leaves (lettuce! Ick!) so sometimes it just takes a change of mindset to make you try new things. As I get older I find that I'm more willing to try new things and I surprise myself with what I can eat.
I'm still working on getting fruit into me as at the moment I have none. I think it's a psychological thing and I'm thinking about getting hypnotherapy for it as I really need to get over it! I can barely touch it let alone get it into my mouth! I retch whenever I try to eat something like melon, which just isn't right!Overcome the notion that you must be ordinary. It robs you of the chance to be extraordinary!Goal Weight 140lb Starting Weight: 160lb Current Weight 145lb0 -

Do you like smoothies? They're calorific, but an alternative to chomping on fruit...0
