In what way are you fussy?
I would suggest eating salads & fresh fruit, drink plenty of water, cut out the alcohol chocolate, cakes & biscuits, and start to exercise.0 -
Try smaller portions that way you wont have to worry about being fussy. I changed my dinner plate to a plate I'd have a sandwich on and cut out sugar in tea's/coffee, drank more water and walked more even if it was a pointless journey eg walked for 5 mins and turned around and went home again. I'm a fussy eater too, I can normally only stomach chicken and pasta!GC July: £0/£1200

Water doesnt make you sick - your body is made from water. Try drinking water with cordial in it until you get used to drinking water (drink mineral water instead of tap water). I dont eat fish either as I am allergic to it.
Here is what I do as I am waiting for bootcamp to start..each morning I drink a pint of water containing the juice of a whole lime, then I will have porridge made with milk and I add fresh fruits such as strawberries or raspberries to it, mid morning I will have a piece of fruit and a handful of nuts, lunch will be chicken or turkey (skin removed) with salad, mid afternoon another snack of fruit, dinner will be beef or chicken with steamed veg or an omelette..I also drink 2ltrs of water a day. I have only just started re-introducing carbs into my diet and will have 2 slices of bread a week, potatoes with my dinner one night and pasta or rice on another night. I am supposed to eat my veg raw but I cannot stomach raw broccoli or cauliflower so stick with salads and steamed veg.
You say you work nights and use it as an excuse not to exercise - you can walk, walk around the office, walk up and down stairs. When you are home do your housework to the extent where you exert yourself, walk, carry bags etc.
Join a bootcamp - often better than a gym because you are supervised and your exercise and nutrition are structured (gyms don't work other than to relieve you of your money). I have lost weight through exercise and the no carbs - I did weigh 13st 9lb, I now weigh 12st 11lb through cutting out my carbs and walking more (I was at the biobank yesterday getting weighed etc for some medical research and that's when I found out how much I weighed, I also found out that I was fairly fit too after cycling on an exercise bike for 10 mins at the steady pace I had been given and was holding a conversation with the sports scientist).
Stop being picky, eat properly and exercise more.0 -

Hi
Have you tried slimming world, ive been doing it for approx 10 weeks and ive lost 1st 6 lbs, Its more of a healthy eating way of life rather than a diet, you can have a look at the basics on the slimming world website and theres a slimming world thread on this wedding thread and a huge one on the health board, the second one has loads of info on it, especially if your starting from scratch. Good luck xMarch 2014 Grocery challenge £250.000 -
The main thing is, you have to get into the right mindset. You shouldn't view it as a diet or anything like that, but should view it as a lifestyle change. I really don't mean this to sound rude or offensive, but your first post seems like you are already making some excuses (no time, etc) when you should have confidence that you can do it.
As others have said, become more active. I'll do sit ups every night before bed and then that's it over and done with. I used to wear leg weights to my previous work and would walk with them on. There are plenty of exercises you can do at work (whether you're at a desk or not, waiting on the photocopier etc).
Ican empathise with the picky eater part as I am really fussy also. Obviously without knowing what you do or dont like or what you already eat, i can't comment. You could try getting into a routine though. For example, cereal/porridge etc for brekkie, Sandwich/soup/salad for lunch, Omlette/baked potato/chicken for dinner. That's just an example to show what i mean. I find it easier to get into a meal routine rather than going home and wondering what to eat as that's when i find i'm most likely to snack or grab a quick meal.0 -
when i say i work nights i dont mean sitting at a desk etc i work for sainsburys and my job is constantly walking about for 8 hrs so by the time i get home am knackered!!!

you need to eat little and often through ur day(which is our night) to keep ur metabolism up and ur body fuelled have a sports drink when u finish work to do some excersise all u need is 30 minutes 5 times a week of increased heart rate to start off. Eat less walk faster at work and u wil start to see results. Can u put up your actual meal plan and we can help to see where its going wrong.I am not bossy I just have better ideas:p0

I have been doing yoga on the wii for the last week my posture is already improved. Only started 15 minutes a day but alreayd built up to 30+ depending on time. Its very relaxing perhaps that would suit you as a wind down after your night shift? I know am finding myself doing the easy breathing exercises when i am waiting to pick youngest up from sch! I was doing housework and found myself doing the palm tree move lol Its addictive but in a nice and gentle way.
Its the little things we can change that make a difference over time. Choosing lower fat and calorie items is a good start. Look at the options when buying your food and choose the lowest in the range. When cooking use less oil buy some fry light oil spray for example. A good tip for tasty roast potatoes is to par boil with a stock cube it really gives them a nice flavour and you don't notice so much the less fat when cooking them.
You said your picky with soups have you tried making your own? I was once a heinz chicken soup or oxtail (would sieve the carrots out!) that was all i liked. I started to think about how much food i waste and tried making chicken soup. My mum showed me how but she insisted i put carrots and onion in it. So i did and it was great i also put in some of my favourite flavours, corriander, real fresh ginger and garlic. I really hate bits the texture of soft vegetables makes me heave so i liquidize it up. I am still surprised i like it now its a big change for me. My daughter is fussy to she made chicken with chilli flakes and spices but no vegetables it was ok but not as nice as mine
