Ebay Fraud Warning

Hi, I recently purchased an iphone on ebay. The seller was listing about 8 high value items even though they had only sold small value items before. They have 100% feedback and I didn't think anything of it as they are a uk business seller. After 2 weeks I had not even had an order confirmation or acknowledgement so I emailed the seller 3 times over a couple of days asking for a delivery date but got no answer. I got the sellers phone number off ebay and phoned twice - they went straight to ansaphone so I left 2 messages, still no reply. On checking their feedback again I noticed that the 8 high value items were all sold on 1st May and there was positive feedback from small value items which had ended after 1st May but no feedback from the high value items. I emailed again from a different email address and got a reply "What do you want - I'm very busy?" !!! I immediately reported them to ebay and paypal and within a couple of hours paypal replied that they have found in my favour and that I will receive a full refund.

What is bothering me is that since then the seller has listed a quantity of 20 3gs 16gb brand new unlocked iphones (exactly the same listing I fell for) with a buy-it-now of £350 + £7 P+P. They still have no feedback from any high value items so I alerted ebay and paypal and they replied that they will be taking action. The listing remained and all 20 iphones are now sold - 1 or 2 people even bought 2 of them - all have paid. The listing states in very small wording that delivery would be approx. 30 days after funds have cleared which is outrageous for a UK seller - this is probably so people will be out of time to dispute the transaction and reclaim their money when they realise they have been scammed.

I'm annoyed ebay never did anything about the listing and I'm even more annoyed that there was no way of me alerting the buyers that they were being ripped off.

Any advice?

    You have 45 days to dispute the auction, and if the phone doesn't arrive within a week of paying, it's sensible to start thinking about opening an "item not received" dispute.

    Did you leave negative feedback to warn others?

    No, I am not perfect, but yes I do judge people on their use of basic English language. If you didn't know the above, then learn it! (If English is your second language, then you are forgiven!)

    I agree with pinkshoes, leave a good strong neg.

    Also, ebay is not yet a nany state and if people are daft enough to bid without doing any basic research on a relatively new seller there is vey little that anyone can do to stop them. However, assuming buyers have a modicum of sense and use paypal they are fully protected anyway and the only people taking a loss on this will be paypal.

    @Glen,
    So if the seller isnt registered anymore, you don't get a refund? Are you kiding me? I thought we were always 100% protected with paypal. If that happens can you do a charge back or something?
    Jesus, now im scared!

    Thats incorrect you are covered and will be refunded even if there is no money in the account you always have been for ebay sales. This coverage also covers off ebay sales (it changed last year).

    It all changed a couple of years ago. Now if you buy on ebay and you do not get your item you get a full refund regardless of whether the seller has funds in their account or not.

    From some date in June this full protection is rolled out to all paypal transactions even if the item wasn't bought on ebay.

    Unfortunately people do like a good panic and whilst panicking overlook the basic terms on paypal that give them full protection.

    So? Anyone can turn their ebay account into a business account. Means nothing.
