I had another 3 deliveries today, they were posted on the 21st and were still in good condition. This company generally send the orders out when its time to plant them up, so I wouldn't worry. Because of the bad winter this year things are bit later than usual. Their customer service is good if you have any problems.

I found it to be anything but good, and it matched the quality of the stuff they sell.

Talk to a real plantsperson, and you'll find that they haven't used T&M for years. It was a high quality nursery once, but that was a long time ago, and the quality just isn't there any more.

I've NEVER had a problem with them, I've used them for over 20 years. They are one of my favourite mail order nurseries. The only thing I would say negative about them is they have stopped giving free gifts with purchases, I got some good deals over the years. I didn't spend as much this year with them because of that. Instead I looked for offers on this site and tips to get round paying for postage/ discount codes etc. I've always found the quality very good, the climbing surfinas that arrived today were in tip top condition, pinched out and ready for planting 3 lots of 10 Coming in at £11.98 for the lot. I'm more than pleased.
This year everyone is a few weeks behind because of the weather, I usually have everything done by now. I'm only half way there this year .

One thing I do know for sure is they WONT send the plants out until they are ready to be planted up.

I have ordered many times from these people and usually they are OK. Once I had a failure with Busy Lizzies which they replaced promptly.
However I am very delighted with the Suttons plants which are far superior, healthy and more mature.

These of course are £13.90 with no vouchers but well worth the money.

Totally agree, we received some of our plants yesterday but no sign of the 'offer' ones.
The Suttons were great value, we received over 120 in total, so much cheaper than the shops!

I'm glad you've been happy with the quality. I'm afraid our experience has been rather different, on more than one occasion, and we simply won't use them at all now. They may be OK for annuals, but for perennials they frequently send undersized and mediocre quality plants. If you compare what they're sending out with the equivalent from a quality nursery, such as Beth Chatto or Ken Muir you'll find there's no comparison.

I still haven't forgotten the problems caused by the so-called black bamboo they sent that proved to be anything but black bamboo, and has to be constantly weedkilled to stop it from rampaging round the garden. 'Just leave it for a couple of years', they said, 'It will go black'. Utter rubbish - a bit like the dead parrot sketch.

I haven't forgotten either the £12 hydrangea which arrived in an envelope as a 3" stick.

If you only want annuals, fine. If you're content with mediocre perennials, fine. But if you expect quality, go elsewhere. If you doubt my word, talk to a member of the Hardy Plant Society, or another serious gardeners' society, and see what they tell you about T&M. You won't use them again.

I don't purchase many perennials from them, it is mainly bedding, bulbs etc, though I did get some unbelievable tree paeony's last year, for £1. I much prefer Crocus for perennials/shrubs, I've had some superb plants from them, they used to sell off the plants from their award winning show gardens, it doesn't matter how many plants you buy the delivery is around £5. I got three BLACK bamboo from them and they are STUNNING now, (not invasive).

    J. Parker is a good company to deal with too, I've had a some great deals from them. Their perennials are a tad bigger than T&M. And their FREE gifts are STILL FREE no P+P extras.

I also purchased the Suttons Lucky dip and I agree the plants were excellent value, I'm waiting on the T&M's similar offer @ £9.99, it will be interesting to compare the two.

I'd like to check out the other companies you mentioned, I'm always on the look out for good plants.

Thanks CM (and others) - I've just ordered my Chelsea Collection at £4.99 with the free postage. :)

After the damage my garden suffered over the winter and the lovely plants I lost, I need something to cheer it and me up!
