  • Are they really fussy about claiming as a company. I have a friend who has a company and I can use their company name. But will the cheque also be addressed to them?

I was wondering the same thing... I was assuming so.
So so SO tired of being ripped off, and mislead
    Hope sharing saves some pain.
  • I've emptied 9 pens so far. Don't want to go into the hassle of emptying another one if the cheque is addressed to the company!
  • Just been reading the terms:

"Payment will be made via a cheque to the individual or company name stated as the purchaser on the proof of purchase supplied."

I think that means it would be made out to the company... Cause you would have to claim in the companies name to be able to claim for 10 pens... and the receipt wouldn't have a name on would it? Unless it was a business invoice?

  • I entered as an individual and yesterday I received a cheque for £90 as I sent in 9 empty pens. My boyfriend did the same thing and has been promised a cheque for £100 will be with him by tomorrow. Initially I had my empty pens returned and asked to resubmit as a company, however after a bit of a discussion about what the original terms and conditions were at the time I sent in the pens, Bic agreed to honoured it and sent out £90. They have since changed the terms and conditions to make it very clear that individuals can only enter 1 pen, but if you entered before they changed them it would be worth pursuing with Bic. I guess they changed a few weeks ago. Anyone who entered as an individual by about October ish and has had their pens returned might want to argue it with Bic. Basically the original terms and conditions didn't restrict the number of pens an individual could send in and they have realised it. I don't have the original t's and c's electronically but I will send out a hard copy to the first few people who send a message and an stamped adrressed envelope if this is any good - I won't be able to make more than a few copies though.

My sister has a registered company. Can anyone tell me whether the cheque is made out to a person or the company? If its in the name of the company then the money has to be put through the company (pay tax on it and its really difficult to say 'what' the money is when processing as company money and even more difficult to extract - it will belong to the company). Will they make the cheque payable to my sister or to the company?? Hope someone can help with this - Id love to do the challenge and my sis is about to have a baby so this is perfect for her to sit and scribble!!

EDITed to add - just read the above posts. SO if my sister bought a pack and used an invoice with her name on company invoice paper, would it be made out to her? Arrgh! Companys would only get to keep £100 minus £17.50 (tax) and then the money is untouchable anyway - you cant just withdraw the cash from a company. Arrghhh!

They post the cheque to the companies address too right? Or can you put down your own address?

What about scanning the original t's and c's, then uploading it?

Hi there, only just seen this post - sorry. You have to enter the registered address of the company on the application but my sisters home address is the company address so no probs there. If you are in any doubt just ring them up - they are actually very helpful at Bic customer services. I explained that if cheques are made out to the company, it is extremely difficult to process it for tax and then almost impossible to take out of the company. I think they realise this so Im going to add a note on my application to make the cheque payable to my sister and NOT the company name (no bank accounts in the registered name anyway only their marketing name)
