Hi
Just updating you on my bic challenge!
I have so far emptied 7 pens only 3 to go for our local school.
Might be nice for others who have spare pens emptied to send them in to their local school nursery or charity as they would be well happy for the money
Just an idea!0 -
The terms and conditions on the Bic website state "The "Promotional Product" referred to in these Terms and Conditions are packs of 10 BiC® Cristal® Medium ball point pens, which are packaged in the "Challenge BIC" promotional packaging" - now personally, I have only ever seen black pens in the special promotional packaging, but I could be wrong.
we picked up the colour pens becuase to be honest, they are more fun to scribble with!
since we have emptied a navy and a green i hope they do accept them! though the reds and green ink stains the cartridge :eek:0 -
If anyone's still looking for pens in promo packs I spotted some in Tesco Sandhurst this afternoon, they were in the aisle with all the reduction items but not reduced
£3 a pack, they had the all black packs and the mixed coloured ones.
It’s not worth doing something unless someone, somewhere, would much rather you weren’t doing it.

Hi all,
First of all, yes I'm a newbie. But I'm not a troll or here to cause trouble, I've been watching this particular thread for a while and now I have a reason to post, I've registered and decided to share my thoughts.
I know a fair amount about this promotion as I've studied it carefully (if you're emptying any colour pens apart from black, they won't be accepted, so save your wrists!) and you must send in pens that are accompanied by the receipt and also the promotional packaging.
I've emptied nine pens as an individual and I've sent them to Bic.
I've waited and waited and today I got a letter. It appears that an individual can only get £10. If anyone claims to have sent in 10 pens as an individual and received a cheque for £100, I don't believe it.
I'd post the letter from Bic here, but as a new poster, it appears I'm not allowed to post links.
If anyone wants any promotion packs & receipts, I have them!
I purchased a promotional pack which has multi coloured pens.. I haven't come across anywhere that says the pens have to be black0 -
mine are coming along well. Got them at the swtart of the week and have emptied 2.
I have a few theories, but no ways to prove it. Scribbling madly does give room to think, and these are my conclusions
1. Dont scribble too much on one piece of paper. I think when the ink touches the paper, it is absorbed. by going over the same bit of paper another layer of ink is appled, but because the paper isnt absorbing as much ink, the pen wont run out as fast. Therefore going over a single piece of paper so it is perfectly black with no white bits showing will probably take longer to empty the pen than two light coatings of ink on seperate sheets of paper.
On the thought of how the pen dispenses ink, this is due to the ball rolling. On a higher gloss paper, or a paper already scribbled on it might be possible that the ball (to a small extent) aquaplanes. This might be backed up by the fact that sometimes the in doesnt seem as solid as it should do.
Due to the absorbancy and aquaplaning theories i have taken to using a stiff card, similar to the type found onthe back of those spiral bound note pads.
I have spent a little bit of time with a silly idea. I took several pens, some rubber bands, the whisk from an electric food mixer, and an electric hand drill.
I strapped several rubber bands around the mixing end of the food mixer, and then placed the pens pointing downward against the rubber band with several more on top to hold them in place. I then put the food mixer with pens into the hand drill, with the end result being somthing which should draw circles with the pens, very fast.
I'm having a little bit of trouble getting the pens to stay straight, so need to work on it a little bit more, but i think the idea is sound.
The other thing i found that works well, but is much simpler, is to give them to other people in the office, and tell them to do it. I work in a call centre, and people can happily scribble away whilst pretending to listen to what customers are saying. Only problem with this is a few people have suggested they want a cut of the profits.:D0 -

Funniest post I've read in a while!! :rotfl:0 -
Hillarious post by Shadow Jam:rotfl:
Where are we up to with the pens? I replied when i got my letter asking if i was a company. I quoted what it says on the top of the individual's form and when you register as an individual - it clearly says 'Pens' at certain points. Anyone replied and had any success?0 -
Did you have any luck when you replied to that letter about the plural use of the word pen?
I got a pack today after reading this thread a while ago. I wish I had checked back and read the newer posts before I bought them now! I do have a company, but it is not limited. So I guess I can only claim one as an individual?
Just finished my first pen. It took me 2 A4 drawings and 6 hours. It wasn't hard really. Glad I check back before I did the other 9 pens in. At least I will make my money back if I can only claim one pen.So so SO tired of being ripped off, and mislead
Hope sharing saves some pain.0 -
Are they really fussy about claiming as a company. I have a friend who has a company and I can use their company name. But will the cheque also be addressed to them?0
