I pay £60 a month, no gas and use 3033 day units (900 at a higher price) and 6732 night units (on economy 7). My forecast bill will be £672.46 (my Excel spreadsheet) against payments of £720 on E-on Fix Online v6

What is odd, assuming the bill is for electricity is that the OP is using industrial quantities of electricity, unless of course they are reading the gas bill.
A metric unit of electricity is a Kilowatt Hour.
Gas is measured in Cubic Feet, or Cubic Metres, and has to be converted to KwH for pricing.

Please rush me details of the 7p electricity tariff.
That gum you like is coming back in style.

there is no tariff where the cost of an electricity unit is 7 pence

What is this tariff so all of us who are paying on average 10p a unit can move to it because I would love to get my electricity for 7 pence a kWh.

Tell us, or is it a big secret?

or you don't know how to read your bill.

You haven't even told us whether it is for gas or electricity or even who your supplier is?

    Jim

Sorry, but I am not lying! I pay 7.07p a unit for my electricity threough EDF. Its their online saver 6 tariff. I also pay 20p a day to get that price, but its still works out cheaper than my old BG tariff.
ANd I didn't say who I was with initially because it wasn't relevant to my question. I am not querying my bill, as I have said I am assuming my bill is correct, all I was asking was what everyone else pays to get a general idea of how high my bills were.

    Hi all,

I have just had an electricity bill land on the doormat, bad news!

We are in a 3 bed semi and pay £35 a month for gas heating and water, and until now £35 a month for electricity. Now they want to put the electricty up to £75 a month....this seems excessive but maybe I am out of touch?

I am just wondering, how much everyone else pays per month.

Also in 3 bed semi and pay £30 a month for electricity, just the two of us and both out at work all day. Heat, water and cooking on gas. Think I'll check my next bill to make sure I'm now owing them owt.

You have made a fatal flaw in your calculation on how much you pay for 1 unit of electricity.

    you paid 687 * 7.07p = £48.57

    then 20 * 35 = £7

Total £56 for 687 kWh. if you add vat to that it becomes £65.30.

687 kWh of electricity costs £65.30/687 gives the equivalent cost of a unit as 10p not 7p

That is why people wonder why their direct debit goes up and why they get into debt with their electricity and gas.

£100 for gas and electric a month 3 bed semi, 2 teenagers, wife and baby at home all day and me
    Drop a brand challenge
on a £100 shop you might on average get 70 items save
    10p per product = £7 a week ~ £28 a month
    20p per product = £14 a week ~ £56 a month
30p per product = £21 a week ~ £84 a month (or in other words one weeks shoping at the new price)
