Poor training, leading to poor knowledge of the product they are selling. Poor after sales, poor customer service. Do I need to go on?
On the other hand, both Richer Sounds and John Lewis excel in these areas.RIP independent MSE.

I agree with you regarding sales staff in John Lewis, however, the panasonic I wanted was quoted at £1100 in JL, Dixons selling the same model for £838 online.
Guess where I bought mine from? :TBe happy, it's the greatest wealth

I already bought mine at Dixons. Hopefully will not need to ring CS. Could have bought from reputable local shop with 5 yrs guarantee but will need to pay £160 extra. I am a fan of panasonic and they are very reliable, I am also going to extend the guarantee by another year through NW credit card.0

I presume you bought it from John Lewis, having got them to price match Dixons.RIP independent MSE.

I think all panasonic products come with a 5 yr guarantee as standard.
They certainly don't come with a 5 year guarantee as standard - that is completely wrong. Where did you hear this misleading information?
Don't you think it may be one of there major selling points?
Buy ANY Panasonic product from ANY store (not just JL) and you have a five YEAR guarantee!!
Utter rubbish!0 -

JL will only price match local retailers and not web prices
If you have a loacl Richer Sounds they will do the same price and include the 5 year guarantee0 -
I bought a Panasonic LCD TV just over two years ago from Dixons Online and it recently stopped working. Panasonic told me to give it to John Lewis for repairs (they're my local Panny repairers) and the quote came back for £203 to replace the faulty PSU board.
I tried to reason with Dixons under the Sale of Goods Act (as the TV had been cared for and unmoved for that time) but they didn't want to know.
I sent Panasonic a polite and slightly begging letter and they have agreed to pay parts if I pay labour (£45). So, while they don't have a five year guarantee, if you ask nicely they should look after you.0
