  • Felt a bit low this evening as I was meant to go to yoga but I missed it as I was too busy running about trying to get everyone's tea. The worse bit is it was already paid for and I love it so much, it upset me that I didn't have the time. Sounds silly I know. I think it was the last one in the block of 5, not sure I will sign up for another block if I can't make every one as it doesn't seem very cost effective! Went for a walk instead but it wasn't the same :(

Got an expensive week this week with several birthdays so getting frustrated that I still haven't put any money to the debts yet and won't get to until pay day. I REALLY need to see that figure going down to keep my motivation up.

  • Had another mini lightbulb moment today when I realised that even though I try and psychologically account for certain spends per month when they might be needed once or twice a year (say for car tax or something), I don't actually put this money away anywhere. This is a problem as it throws me out when it crops up.

I'm going to look into having different accounts for things like gifts, car tax and car maintenance, house repairs/appliance repairs etc, hair cuts and clothes. Does anyone else do this? If so, how many accounts do you have?

  • Hey LittleKel - thanks for the post. That is exactly what I would like to do - I thought I'd be able to add more accounts online but I tried last night and it says I have to go into a branch, I find that a bit difficult as I can't get there in the week and Sat's are so busy. Will keep looking into it though as it would be so much easier online. Thank you!

Are you with Lloyds? I have the four accounts and maybe will open another for holiday saving.

It is so handy as i can just log in and move the money around. I have standing orders set up for the accounts i need regular money in such as the childrens clubs. I need to save £16 a week into this so the SO takes it out every thursday! Shouldnt fear another swimming or ballet bill again!! :D

  • Hiya, I really liked reading your diary, full of ideas I feel so tired most of the time but your writing is so dynamic, wanting me do more for myself and my son.

Thank you; you are such an inspiration.
And good luck with the pregnancy; I envy you (in a very good way) :T
    Don't forget smiling :):):)
  • Thanks LittleKel - Yes I am, I did go into the branch today and have made an appointment for next week to set them all up - I'm strangely looking forward to getting so organised - thanks again!

'Want to be free' - Thank you so much, that is such a nice thing to write. I love coming on MSE as I feel it's a great inspiring place esp in the diary section so if I can possibly inspire one person with my diary that makes me feel so good! :D Thanks for your wishes of luck too - I do feel quite lucky at the moment and try not to take anything for granted. Take care and good luck with your journey - I'll keep popping into your diary to see how you're getting on.

Hi D2BDF, Hope all is going well. I have tin that I put £20 per week into for petty cash. When its gone its gone and if there is any left we can save it towards a treat. That way we can't spend willy-nilly.

I have been having a bit of a clear out but know need to list before I do any more or we will end up falling over it all.
    Total debt Feb 2012 = £54354.11 😳
