I always agree with ONW - I wish she was my mum!

I didn't get a chance to post this before going to work today. However, at 12 noon I received a call on my mobile - unusual in itself as it normally doesn't work out here!

It was tutor guy - he was very formal, and said that he apologised for sending the email, it had been sent to me in error! He knew that I attended all my classes, I have passed every exam so far with As, study all the time, and I am forecast As in my highers.

How unprofessional is that! Bonnie there is a girl on my course who's boyfriend took the access course last year and I don't know the precise facts but I know that his parents complained to the college about this guy. He's made comments over the course about not being there for much longer, but I'd never really picked up on them. He certainly tries to play people off against each other, he's pulled me in twice and asked me to speak to a fellow student about something he should be dealing with, which I refused to do. Another mature student on my course has emailed him regarding something else and she's going to call me in about an hour to tell me what he's replied to her but it's not sounding good from her text.

I'm a really sensible practical person and know that I can pass my course, but this guy it seems is really pushing my confidence and my boundaries. My plan is to basically gets the best grades I can and apply to the uni at clearing and see if they can offer me a place. I don't want to have any further contact with this tutor, I want to get my head down and revise.

Thank you again for your wonderful posts, you've given me my confidence back with regards to my studying, I'm not stupid, and thanks for your practical responses and experiences.

I thought I had gotten out of all the political office stuff when I went to college!

If that's what he said when he spoke to you, ask him to put it in writing ! Rule of thumb: if it's not written down it didn't happen !

Good job things seem to be moving for you. Re the choice of university --- I had lots of advice not to go to the local college ( now university) with my good A-levels. However, my children were very young and I needed to limit my travelling.

In the end, it proved worthwhile; the more you put into a course, the more you get out. I was lucky to mostly avoid the lousy lecturers and had a some brilliant, stimulating ones.

Good luck, and whatever you do, don't give up on your aims and ambitions. Individual tutors come and go. It's what YOU put into your education that counts.

    Very best wishes

If those rediculous sounding classes arent part of a core module then im pretty sure he cant pull you from a whole course for it. Its in a school/colleges/universities best interest to have people pass a course as it helps their figures, government grants etc so if you're a good student and you look very likely to pass it would be a very stupid move to even threaten removing you from a course.

I'd go and have a word with him but be strong and dont get upset. Tell him you're there to pass and you will pass and whilst you appreciate his concern regarding your attendance you remind him you're at college and not school and you would like to make the best use of your studying time - you feel like you're ok in exams so it would suit you better to study XXX in that time instead.

The guy has apologised. You say that you want no further contact with him, so I assume that you are not going to reply.

That doesn't sound very grown up to me.

Not only is it discourteous but it is a lost opportunity to talk through important life-changing decisions with your student advisor. Are you thinking straight or are you running away and hiding from something?

I'm not running away and hiding from anything. As he's called and apologised for sending the email in error as far as I'm concerned that's the end of the matter. As I'm in the middle of my exams I don't want any further stress or worry and I certainly don't want to talk over any worries or concerns I had, I discussed things with my parents yesterday as they are entirely supportive of me.

I will see the student advisor for a lecture tomorrow morning and will of course be polite to him, but as I strive to gain the highest marks possible in my exams, I'm trying to concentrate on studying rather than any political issues to do with college.

I would ignore him too... sent in error? pah, cheap get out that is.. Why didn't he just say he was being an idiot, it's plain for the rest of us to see that he has been.

He made you question whether to even complete the course, that is not good.

Glad you are sticking with it :)

oh I am sticking with it - I sat an exam yesterday on history close reading, walked out of it knowing that I had done terribly, got into today - I've passed! A bad pass but still a pass, I'm' so proud of myself :j

I do seem to have a brain after all - now if I can get my head round German nationalism........
