I've been with Eclipse on Option 1 since May and found it ok but recently seemed to be limited to 240kB/s ( just under 2 MB ) despite a current sync sped of 5312 kb/s and a line rate of 4000 kbps set with BT.

I found a thread on ADSL guide that said Eclipse were now limiting ALL downloads to 240 kB/s so that explained the sudden drop in performance so I asked eclipse how I have been sold an upto 8 MB service but due to their restrictions I am now only getting a max of upto 2 MB 24/7.

Still awaiting a response on that but they did reply with this ~

The product to which you have subscribed is that of a rate adaptive nature and as such speeds will fluctuate, and performance is advertised on our website as clearly dependant on the performance level of the product purchased. The product that you have purchased, Evolution Option 1, comes with the lowest performance level "Classic", therefore at times our network is under load, your service throughput will have lower priority over our network than that of customers with higher performance levels.

They made no attempt to deny they were limiting me to 240 kB/s , which to me more or less admitted upto 2 MB is as good as I can now expect never mind how good my line is or how close to the exchange I am etc.

I have reported my complaints to the Advertising standards authority and also to Consumer direct as if it option 1 is now limited to upto 2 MB then the Eclipse need to be clearer with the information on their website and change the upto 8 MB promise.

I also requested my MAC and will soon be an ex Eclipse customer.:j
