mordent smiley - Aaaaaah! I was just about to cap until I read this thread! Now I don't know what to do! I'm on scottish power dual online saver 4 and it would cost me 16% increase to cap with scottish power until 2009. This may be a stupid question but can you use energyhelpine/uswitch is it's the same supplier?
I'm in exactly same position, I'm on online saver 4 too & I have been procrastinating for quite some time about whether to cap. When I received Martin's emergency e-mail this morning about prices going up 22% (gas) & 17% (electric) I decided that if all suppliers including Scottish Power follow suit I'll be better off on the Scottish Power fixed deal till 2009 so I have switched over. Based on the available information I think I've made the right move.0 -
I weighed up the pros and cons last night, switched to Scottish Power fixed until Aug 2009. One thing that went through my mind, Martin has never let me down yet with financial advice so I'm happy to switch also knowing it will be slightly more expensive that my current supplier.“A budget is telling your money where to go instead of wondering where it went.” - Dave Ramsey0

E.On's caped tarriff has no catches - it lasts for 12 months but you can leave when you want to if the prices drop before Oct 09. So I will be keeping an eye out for other tariffs...MFW #185

I guess if energy prices increased by an average of over 20% for the year until October I could just shift to someone else and use the Quidco commision to help soften the blow.
.
:T Switch and switch again and keep getting cashbacks to soften ALL the blows that the energy companies are throwing at us all. :T0 -
i am not sure what to do either. I am with Swalec and on their fixed duel fuel plan until Nov 2008. i pay £20 gas and £30 electricity by DD. All comparison sites come up with more expensive plans...rang swalec and they said the managers are currently looking at the next price fix plan which will be announced in due course. Shall i switch this weekend? and to witch supplier?Challenges:

Ditto exactly. I thought I had better act swiftly now in light of Martin's email this morning.A chicken crossing the road is poultry in motion0 -
Checked two comparison web sites for capped dual fuel and I would be paying an extra £200 by capping and they only last 12 months.
I can't see the point of swapping. Also if I stay with n power I get an extra £80 discount after 12 months.
I think I'll stay where I am, or am I missing something?

i recieved martins email about cap now yesterday. Rang my brand new supplier for Gas Ene Electric Southern Electric and asked if my rates could be capped.
A very nice man there said that SE are not capping their rates yet as they are watching the market . When pushed he suggested that I check out their website on a very frequent basis to see if they had decided to offer capping
I hope they do or someone else will be supplying me very shortly.
Does this sound correct to anyone it sounded strange to me..Its not how far you fall but how high you bounce back that matters

U are absolutely correct im a bitas to why people seem to be automatically capping on the basis of what one individual appears to be saying.
Obv n power are likely to increase its variable rate tariffs, if they do u can always switch suppliers after uve completed the 12 months and get a cashback to soften any blows.0 -
I have went with Martins advice and capped with Scottish Power.
Bit scared now - how much will my payments go up by?!!0
