We are already with E-On on their Online Super Saver 5 plan but are probably going to switch to the V15 plan. The unit prices are about 7% more for Gas and around 5% more for electric (plus the current 18% discount we currently get will drop to 9%) but with predicted price increases from 15-40% this year alone, having our prices capped till near the end of next year would seem a sensible idea.
I am on the same tariff as you and looking at the fixed plan too. I see there is a plan called Energy Saver V2 which has the same prices. Can anyone see any differences in this as I can't.
Edit: read the blub again and the bit on your post about the discount makes sense now! I would lose the entire 18% on that V2 plan as opposed to *just* the 9% on the V15 plan.0 -

Hi,
I'm also with e.on on the Energy Online Extra Saver.
Only just changed about a month ago from BG.
I'm also thinking of going onto the price protection plan which they advertise on their website, but first I think I'll check the comparrison sites once again!
Also received a letter from them regarding my new prices on this tariff (they still say it's there cheapest deal).
New elec prices on Energy Online Extra Saver
Primary unit rate 19.835p/ kWh inc VAT Quarterly threshold 225kWh
Secondary unit rate 10.952p/kWh inc VAT
New gas prices on Energy Online Extra Saver
Primary unit rate 4.57p/kWh inc VAT Quarterly threshold 670kWh
Secondary unit rate 2.913p/kWh in VAT
hmmm what to do.......

I have switched to the Eon's Energy Saver 2. According to energyhelpline it has the same capped prices and the same 9% discount as the V15 tariff. Plus a free energy monitor. The only downside (compared with V15) is a tie-in until 1 October 09, but since I've no intention of switching again until then, thats not a problem.
Since Eon havent increased standard prices since February, but oil prices have shot up, I think its worth paying a few percent premium for the certainty. Fixing also removes the need to keep an eye on Eon to check they dont sneak the prices up or quietly change your tariff.0 -
I changed to Npower Sign on line 10 (SOL10) gas and electricity a few months ago and am thinking of moving onto their capped tariff until March 2009. According to a comparison site it will cost me £157 (20%) more to do this. However on Npowers site is says
"we’re offering existing npower customers the chance to fix energy prices until 31st March 2009 without paying a premium* Offer only available to existing residential npower dual fuel or existing single fuel customers who sign up to take their second fuel with npower. Offer also available to single fuel electricity customers where no mains gas supply is available. To qualify for the offer, payment type must be changed to Direct Debit for all fuels and you must continue to pay that way between 01/04/08 and 31/03/09 inclusive. Prices will be fixed at npower's standard electricity and gas tariffs (including discounts) as at 31/03/08 with a 0% premium on both fuels. Prices will be fixed until 31/03/09 providing there are no increases imposed by any governmental, statutory or licensing authority. Offer is limited, subject to availability and may be withdrawn at any time. Cannot be used in conjunction with any other offer. Offer not available to new customers, existing npower internet, Juice, National Trust, Prepayment, Fixed 2009, Fixed 2011 and Tracker customers" http://www.npower.com/web/At_home/index.htm
so if it is not charging a premium why does it cost more, am I not on the standard rate?
is Npowers 2011 deal no longer available?
I think this included boiler cover as well but their 'more information' link no longer works.0 -
I've been unable to find a capped green tariff on any of the comparison sites. It seems that I can choose capped or green, but not both.
Has anyone else succeeded in finding a capped green electricity tariff?Have I said something useful?

My thoughts exactly Shilcor - although now I am wondering that seeing as they've just increased their prices, the Super Saver v5 should be ok for a bit... although of course they could withdraw their fixed one at any time... walking on eggshells wondering what to do! I think in the next couple of weeks will probably switch though just to know it's not going up even *more* with all these horror stories in the news for 2008/2009
EDIT >>> I have now noticed that for dual fuel with E.On it's changed to Price Protection V16??? So probably means it;s gone up a bit...MFW #185

Just been slaving over a hot Excel spreadsheet, as I'm with EON for both gas and lecky with the Energy Online tariff. Only have a terrace house so not a big user of gas for CH, but I use a disproportionate amount of 'lecky for the computers, gadgets and cooking.
As it happens, the best tariff for me know would be the one with the Standing Charge which would save me £14 p.a.
Anyhow, by my reckoning going to Price Protection 16 would mean approx 10% increase over what I'm currently paying if tarriffs remained as they are and IF they continue to give discounts for DD on PP16 otherwise it's a 16% premium. I think it's reasonable to assume prices will increase by at least 10% before Oct 09 when the cap ends, so I reckon for me PP16 is worth going for. NB the tariff that is the real 'lemon' is the Green tariff.
My MSE challenge after moving to PP16 is to cut the kwhs going on 'lecky and keep the annual combined bill to less than £600!0 -
Yeah looks like the Eon V16 is new, as just before I went on holiday it was V15. Scary stuff. I will be doing the same very soon I think, as well as money-saving as much as poss in terms of elec/gas and everything else of course...MFW #185
